BASEBALL: Rathbun’s RBI single sends Panthers past Mountain Lions

Mitchell Rathbun ripped an RBI single with no outs in the bottom of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie and give Palo Verde’s baseball geam a 4-3 win over visiting Sierra Vista on Wednesday.

Bradley Lewis doubled to lead off the inning and scored on winning pitcher Michael Spada’s RBI single to tie the game.

Rathbun finished 3-for-3. Lewis was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two runs for Palo Verde.

Nolan Kingham went 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI for Sierra Vista.

Spring Valley 5, Shadow Ridge 4 — At Spring Valley, Taylor Robison had an RBI single to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh and scored the game winning run on an infield single by Connery Callaway as the Grizzlies edged the Mustangs.

Robison was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Callaway added a double for Spring Valley. Cody Watkins supplied a single and a double for the Grizzlies, and teammate Jake Sellinger had two RBIs.

Francisco Robles was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Brady Hoskins homered for Shadow Ridge, which also got a double from Dustin McDonald. Eric Jordan was 2-for-2 for the Mustangs.

Valley 4, Canyon Springs 3 — At Valley, Roberto Beltran-Aleman doubled home Alonso Osorio-Kalawe with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give the Vikings the victory over the Pioneers.

Osorio-Kalawe and Beltran-Aleman each went 2-for-4 with a double for Valley.

Freshman Bryce Cowin went the distance, throwing a four-hitter and allowing no earned runs, to get the win.

Green Valley 5, Rancho 1 — At Green Valley, Keola Paragas fired a three-hitter to lead the Gators over the Rams.

Paragas struck out eight and walked one.

Jarrett Perns was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Green Valley offense. Cody Milner and Troy Cropper each added two hits for the Gators.

Dylan Pletsch went 2-for-3 and hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for Rancho.

Silverado 8, Las Vegas 3 — At Silverado, James Skelly tossed four solid innings to earn the win and had two RBIs at the plate to guide the Skyhawks to victory over the Wildcats.

Aidan Adams supplied two hits, a run, and two RBIs for Silverado, which got a three-inning save from Nick Kawano.

Eddie Ojeda and Ryan Freimuth each had two hits, and Jeremiah Garcia provided a pinch-hit RBI double for Las Vegas.

Bishop Gorman 11, Vauxhall (Cananda) 1 — At Gorman, Cadyn Grenier went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, a triple and four RBIs as the Gaels beat Vauxhall in the Bishop Gorman Easter Classic.

Michael Blasko was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Brandon Wulff was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for Gorman.

Alex Perron tossed a three-hitter and struck out six for the Gaels.

Bishop Gorman 11, Canyon (Calif.) 1 — At Burkholder Park, Blasko was 3-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs as the Gaels routed Canyon in six innings in the Bishop Gorman Easter Classic.

Grenier was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Cole Krzmarzick was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Gorman, which also got two hits from Beau Capanna.

Chase Maddux tossed a one-hitter and struck out two.

Tech 5, Boulder City 3 — At Boulder City, the Roadrunners scored the game tying and winning runs on a misplayed fly ball with two outs in the top of the seventh to overcome the Eagles.

Winning pitcher Abel Martinez went the distance and had eight strikeouts, and was 3-for-4 with a double and a solo home run. Sebastian Fitzgerald had a double and scored twice, and Jalen Birch supplied a double for Tech.

Mario Castanon and Colton Bosnos each went 2-for-4 with a double for Boulder City.

Arbor View 16, Durango 0 — At Durango, Sam Pastrone went 3-for-4 with two home runs and pitched four scoreless innings to help the Aggies blitz the Trailblazers in five innings.

Pastrone also doubled and finished with four RBIs and three runs.

Nick Quintana and Jayce Gardner each homered, doubled and drove in three runs for Arbor View, which scored five times in the third and fourth innings. Kaid Urban was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs.

Chaparral 16, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, Matt Ellison went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, and Luis Giro was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to help the Cowboys rout the Bulldogs in five innings.

Winning pitcher Tyler Crone struck out eight, tossed a two-hit shutout and had two hits and three runs for Chaparral. Chad Clark was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, Tommy Crone went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and four runs for the Cowboys, who got two hits from Jose Ortiz.

Mojave 13, Desert Pines 3 — At Mojave, Otto Hernandez went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs to help the Rattlers top the Jaguars in five innings.

Tyler Ledgister was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Mojave.

Jose Avelino was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI for Desert Pines.

Moapa Valley 8, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Overton, Jared Repp allowed just two hits in six scoreless innings as the Pirates beat the Miners.
