BASEBALL: Richard Mascarenas walks tightrope in Durango’s win over Pahrump Valley

Richard Mascarenas entered the game with the bases loaded and nobody out in the seventh for Durango’s baseball team on Friday and got a flyball and a double play to lock down the save in a 3-2 road win over Pahrump Valley.
Durango took a 3-0 lead after the fourth, and the Trojans scored one in the sixth and one in seventh, but could not complete the comeback.
Pahrump’s Joey Koenig had a double for the game’s only extra-base hit.
Foothill 5, Silverado 4 — At Silverado, Nate Young knocked in Kelton Lachelt in the top of the seventh to break a tie and lift the Falcons over the Skyhawks.
Lachelt scored twice, and teammates Brayden Griffie and Ben Gonzalez each doubled.
Dax Fellows had two RBIs for the Skyhawks.
Moapa Valley 5, Chaparral 1 — At Chaparral, Drake Staheli was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to help the Pirates beat the Cowboys.
Chase Hadley had a run-scoring double and scattered seven hits over six innings to earn the victory. Hadley loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh, but reliever Colby Longman escaped the jam without allowing a run.
Anthony Cornwall was 2-for-4 for Moapa Valley.
Connor Jarvis had a double for Chaparral.
Centennial 9, Shadow Ridge 6 — At Shadow Ridge, Brett Berger had a home run, double, two runs and two RBIs as the Bulldogs took down the Mustangs.
Nik Dobar pitched 5⅔ innings of scoreless relief to earn the win for the Bulldogs, who were supported by doubles from Jake Rogers and Tanner Wright.
Trent McGregor and Vinny Archer each had a double for the Mustangs.
Palo Verde 5, Faith Lutheran 2 — At Palo Verde, Ryan Merino had a double and two RBIs to help the Panthers beat the Crusaders.
Merino’s double and Jaxon Hammond’s double were two of just three hits for the Panthers, who drew seven walks.
Jeremy Aguirre doubled and scored for the Crusaders.
Valley 6, Eldorado 1 — At Valley, Jose Marquez was 2-for-2 with two doubles and four RBIs to lift the Vikings over the Sundevils.
Bryce Cowin struck out seven and allowed one unearned run in his two-hitter for Valley.
Valley’s Jacob Cruz and Gatlin Hardiman both hit a double.
Arbor View 7, Legacy 2 — At Arbor View, Brennan Holligan pitched 6⅓ strong innings and struck out seven to lead the Aggies over the Longhorns.
Talon LeBaron and Joe Fitzhugh doubled for the Aggies, and Logan Santos scored twice.
Diego Portillo and Donta Williams each had a double for the Longhorns.
Green Valley 11, Las Vegas 0 — At Las Vegas High, Matt Gilbertson fired a one-hitter as the Gators rolled to a five-inning victory over the Wildcats.
Gavin Amelburu was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs for the Gators, and Drake Manigo, Frankie Fitzgerald and Garrett Nelson all doubled.
Fitzgerald, Carter Gehlken and A.J. Amelburu all scored twice for the Gators.
Bonanza 16, Boulder City 6 — At Boulder City, Danny Ruiz went 2-for-4 with a double and five RBIs as the Bengals rolled past the Eagles.
Jay DeSoto went 3-for-4 with RBIs for the Bengals, Torren Brozovich went 1-for-1 with a double, three walks, a hit by pitch and an RBI.
Boulder City’s Nolan Herr went 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Anthony Pacifico went 2-for-2.
Basic 17, Canyon Springs 6 — At Canyon Springs, Jack Wold went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Wolves over the Pioneers.
Basic’s Riley Roger went 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Christian Rivero went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Garrett Giles went 2-for-5 with two RBIs for the Wolves.
Canyon Springs’ Quentin Barton went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Giovani Benuto went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Virgin Valley 7, Del Sol 1 — At Mesquite, Dylan Fuqua had five strikeouts in two innings as the Bulldogs beat the Dragons.
Lincoln County 6-15, Calvary Chapel 0-1 — At Calvary Chapel, Kevin Matthews went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI as the Lynx defeated the Lions in the first game of a doubleheader.
Lincoln County’s Tristan Davis went 4⅔ innings and struck out nine batters to earn the victory.
In the second game, McKinley O’Connor went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Lynx to the sweep.
Lincoln County’s Kevin Matthews tossed four shutout innings to earn the victory. Matthews also went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Kobe Walker went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Lake Mead 25-22, Mountain View 2-0 — At Lake Mead, Joey Giordano and Ryan Kennedy each had a double, four runs and four RBIs as the Eagles rolled by the Saints in three innings the opener.
Mitch Dolinar doubled and scored four times for the Eagles, Zack Brocker had four runs, and Jared Regan doubled.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Joseph Johnson had a triple, three runs and five RBIs as the Eagles won in three innings.
Jared Regan, Ryan Kennedy, Zack Brocker, T.J. Yurek and Sean Fuller each scored three runs for the Eagles.
Brocker and Mitch Dolinar both had a pair of doubles, and Kennedy had one.
Indian Springs 17, Spring Mountain 2 — At Indian Springs, Wrench Perry had two doubles and three RBIs to help the Thunderbirds rout the Golden Eagles in four innings of the first game of the doubleheader.
Elyas Jones had a double and three RBIs for the Thunderbirds, and Philip Reimer had a double.
In the nightcap, the Thunderbirds’ offense scored 17 runs in the third inning as they rolled in four innings.
Indian Springs’ Zach Williams went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs, Nino Alvarez went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, Devon Sickler went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, and Dillon Pollock went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.
Needles 13-12, The Meadows 2-7 — At Needles, California, Ryan Dunn and Nathan Parker each doubled to lift Needles over The Meadows in the first game of a doubleheader.
Ezra Ponce and Jayden Yeager both hit doubles to help Needles take down The Meadows in the second game.
Pahranagat Valley 7-7, Beaver Dam (Ariz.) 0-0 — At Littlefield, Arizona, the Panthers won both games of a doubleheader by forfeit.
