BASEBALL: Robins’ seventh-inning homer saves Spartans

Gerald Robins belted a three-run home run with one out in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday to help Cimarron-Memorial’s baseball team rally for a 5-3 road win over Bonanza.

The Spartans, who clinched the Southwest League’s No. 1 seed for the Sunset Region tournament, trailed 3-1 entering the seventh and took the lead on Robins’ third hit of the day. He finished 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs.

Nick Borowski added an RBI single in the seventh and finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs for Cimarron.

Joaquin Orozco was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Bonanza, which had just three hits.

Desert Oasis 9, Legacy 8 — At Desert Oasis, Bryson Stott’s two-out flair to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning plated Zach Rickard with the winning run as the Diamondbacks outlasted the Longhorns.

Jordyn Compehos was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, two runs and an RBI for Desert Oasis. Chris Van Kuren went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, and Rickard was 1-for-4 with two RBIs for the Diamondbacks.

Quentin McCray was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs and two RBIs, and Robbie Galvan went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Legacy.

Del Sol 3, Eldorado 2 — At Del Sol, Stanley Natale hit an infield single to drive home the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Dragons edged the Sundevils.

Natale’s RBI single came on a 1-1 count with no outs and the bases loaded, as he dribbled a grounder past pitcher Mike Brown.

Branden Hubbs and Dylan Greer each provided an RBI for Del Sol, which got a triple and a single from Mike DeLeon.

Andrew Natale tossed a seven-hitter with seven strikeouts for Del Sol.

Trevor Swain had an RBI single for Eldorado.

Bishop Gorman 12, Centennial 2 — At Gorman, Ryan Suppe went 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and the Gaels used a seven-run second inning to top the Bulldogs in five innings.

Cole Krzmarzick was 2-for-3 with a double, and Michael Blasko went 2-for-4 with a triple for Gorman, which also got a 2-for-4 effort from Cadyn Grenier.

Coronado 12, Foothill 1 — At Coronado, Jackson Cofer and Chandler Blanchard combined for a one-hitter with no earned runs to lead the Cougars to a five-inning rout of the Falcons.

Julian Burrola hit three doubles and drove in three runs, and Michael Pollex went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and three RBIs for Coronado, which got two hits and two runs from Tyler Brown.

Liberty 7, Basic 1 — At Basic, Chris Bradford’s two-run home run in the top of the second inning sparked the Patriots in a win over Wolves.

Preston Pavlica added two hits and two RBIs, and Jesse Keiser had a double and two RBIs for Liberty, which used a five-run seventh to seal the victory.

Chaparral 6, Desert Pines 4 — At Chaparral, Mark Nick O’Connor doubled and homered, and Zach Harman threw six shutout innings with six strikeouts as the Cowboys held off the Jaguars.

Tad Pushard doubled and drove in two runs for Chaparral.

Boulder City 16, Sunrise Mountain 4 — At Sunrise Mountain, Tanner Howell went 5-for-5 with two doubles, three runs and four RBIs as the Eagles routed the Miners in six innings.

Corbett Fleming was 3-for-5 with a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Tino Ragone went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and three RBIs for Boulder City.

Ted Taylor was 2-for-3 for Sunrise Mountain.

Moapa Valley 15, Tech 2 — At Tech, Jared Repp tossed a three-hitter with five strikeouts to power the Pirates past the Roadrunners in five innings.

Jake Repp and Kade Bryant each had a single, a double and an RBI for Moapa Valley, which got a two-run triple from Chad Jones.

Abel Martinez had an RBI single for Tech.

Parowan (Utah) 15, Virgin Valley 4 — At Mesquite, Parowan scored 10 runs in the final two innings of a six-inning win over the Bulldogs.

Tanner Killmer went 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for Virgin Valley.
