BASEBALL: Ruiz carries Bengals by Desert Oasis

Danny Ruiz went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBIs, and Bonanza’s baseball team scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning en route to a 9-5 win at Desert Oasis on Tuesday.

Torren Brozovich was 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs for Bonanza, which scored twice in the seventh inning to take a 5-3 lead, but surrendered two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Levi Klump was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Bengals.

Isaiah Raiano went 3-for-4 with a triple and two doubles, and Bryson Stott was 3-for-5 with a double for the Diamondbacks. Aaron Roberts was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Desert Oasis.

Cheyenne 11, Mojave 10 — At Mojave, the Desert Shields scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to overcome an early 9-1 deficit and edge the Rattlers.

Guillermo Rodriguez provided a sacrifice bunt that plated Antonio Chavez to tie it at 9-9, and a passed ball scored Anthony McConnico with the go-ahead run for Cheyenne.

Angelo Hallenback, Titus Quintanilla, and Chavez each had two hits for the Desert Shields, who used a five-run fourth to cut into the deficit.

Otto Hernandez doubled for Mojave.

Bishop Gorman 9, Arbor View 0 — At Arbor View, Matt Mitchell and Alex Tisminesky combined on a four-hitter as the Gaels blanked the Aggies.

Mitchell allowed three hits and struck out nine in six innings.

Jorel Hingada had two hits and an RBI for Gorman, which led 6-0 after two innings. Braxton Wehrle and Beau Capanna each added two hits for Gorman, which got three RBIs from Nick Hernandez.

Cimarron-Memorial 5, Centennial 1 — At Centennial, Diego Cardoso and Jacob Godman combined on a two-hitter as the Spartans downed the Bulldogs.

Alexander Marco was 1-for-4 with a two-run double for Cimarron, which scored all five of its runs in the sixth inning.

Hayden Rosenkrantz was 1-for-3 with a double for Centennial.

Palo Verde 11, Durango 5 — At Palo Verde, winning pitcher Sam Powers went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and four RBIs to lead the Panthers by the Trailblazers.

Cobi Fiechtner was 2-for-2 with a run for Palo Verde, which overcame a 3-0 first-inning deficit and took advantage of 10 walks.

Durango’s Tait Ludwick was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs, and Duke Pahukoa was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Trailblazers.

Shadow Ridge 18, Legacy 8 — At Shadow Ridge, Bryson Barnes went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs and five RBIs as the Mustangs stormed back from an 8-2 deficit in the fifth inning to defeat the Longhorns in six innings.

Quinn Ayers was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, three runs and three RBIs for Shadow Ridge, which scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and added 14 runs in the sixth inning to end the game by the mercy rule.

Justin Lee was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Shadow Ridge.

Forrest Grevelis was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Legacy.

Faith Lutheran 12, Pahrump Valley 3 — At Faith Lutheran, Blake Giuliani went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and four RBIs to help the Crusaders top the Trojans.

Brandon Davis was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and teammate Sagan Gronauer was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs for Faith Lutheran, which had seven extra-base hits.

Jacob Saenz was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Pahrump.

Clark 10, Western 0 — At Clark, Bryce Panazzo threw a two-hitter and struck out 10 as the Chargers beat the Warriors in six innings.

Guy Tannenbaum went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Harrison Fuller supplied an RBI base hit for Clark, which scored three runs in each of the first two innings.

Lake Mead 8-18, The Meadows 9-7 — At Heritage Park, Mitchell Dolinar went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and five RBIs in the nightcap as the Eagles earned a split with the Mustangs.

Joey Johnson was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs in the finale for Lake Mead.

The Meadows’ Sam Kaplan was 1-for-1 with a double, two runs and three RBIs in the second game.

In the opener, Nabeel Afzal’s single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning plated Adam Martinez with the winning run and capped a four-run seventh as the Mustangs nipped the Eagles.

Lake Mead led 8-3 before The Meadows scored twice in the sixth and four times in the seventh.

Alex Agrawal was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Afzal went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for The Meadows.

Jared Regan was 3-for-4 with an RBI in the opener for Lake Mead.

Needles 10, Laughlin 0 — At Needles, California, Trenton-Poe Evans threw a five-inning no-hitter as the Mustangs routed the Cougars.

Poe-Evans struck out seven and walked five. He also went 2-for-3 with three runs.

Reid Shaver was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run to lead Needles’ 13-hit attack.

Indian Springs 17, Mountain View 1 — At Indian Springs, Nino Alvarez had two doubles, three RBIs and two runs to lead the Thunderbirds to a five-inning win over the Saints.

Austin Thomas supplied a double and two RBIs, and Brandon Sproul hit a double for Indian Springs, which led 11-0 after three innings.

Rason McLennon had an RBI double for Mountain View.

Adelson School 19, Calvary Chapel 3 — At Paul Meyer Park, Sammy Katz went 2-for-2 with a double as Adelson School routed Calvary Chapel in five innings.

Samuel Shain was 2-for-3 with a double for Adelson School.

Jesse Interante was 2-for-2, and teammates Isaiah Jimmerson and Spencer Church each went 2-for-3 for Calvary Chapel.
