BASEBALL: Seventh-inning rally gives Diamondbacks win over Bulldogs

Pinch-runner Andrew Martinez scored the winning run on a fielder’s choice with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday to lead Desert Oasis’ baseball team to a 4-3 win over visiting Centennial.
The Diamondbacks had runners at first and second when the Bulldogs tried to turn a double play on a ground ball to shortstop. Centennial got the force out at second, but the throw to first was wild, allowing Martinez to score.
Zach Rickard was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for Desert Oasis, which took a 3-1 lead into the seventh before the Bulldogs scored twice to tie the game.
Chris Van Kuren was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Dominic Paratore was 2-for-4 for the Diamondbacks.
Jake Portaro was 2-for-3 with a triple for Centennial. Tanner Wright went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Travis Stevens was 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs.
Cheyenne 5, Clark 4 — At Cheyenne, winning pitcher Scott Flinn singled home Angelo Hallenbeck with the deciding run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Desert Shields by the Chargers.
Hallenbeck singled with one out and stole second before Flinn stroked a single down the left-field line.
Brian Corder had a home run for Cheyenne.
Basic 3, Foothill 2 — At Basic, Ryne Nelson scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the Wolves over the Falcons.
Mikey York tossed a five-hitter and struck out 12 for Basic, which got RBI singles from Brandon Smith and Tanner Roundy.
Tyler Van Stone went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Foothill.
Coronado 11, Eldorado 6 — At Coronado, Jacen Yergensen’s two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 6-6 tie and helped the Cougars defeat Sundevils.
Yergensen finished 2-for-2, and Jackson Cofer was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run for Coronado, which also got a two-run homer from Caden Spilsbury.
Joseph Torres was 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Eldorado. Trevor Swain went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Jason Bowden was 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Sundevils.
Bonanza 11, Legacy 2 — At Bonanza, Spencer Faught tossed a one-hitter, allowing two unearned runs and striking out 11, to help the Bengals top the Longhorns.
Chris Dunn was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Justin Nakata went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs for Bonanza.
Faith Lutheran 8, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Faith Lutheran, winning pitcher Erich Uelmen was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and combined with Jordan Dreibelbis on a six-hitter as the Crusaders secured the Sunset League title by blanking the Trojans.
Dakota Greenawalt had a solo home run for Faith Lutheran.
Liberty 12, Del Sol 2 — At Del Sol, Preston Pavlica was 1-for-1 with a three-run home run and four RBIs to lead the Patriots by the Dragons in five innings.
Jay Martz was 2-for-2 with two doubles, and Justin Lutes was 2-for-2 with a double for Liberty, which got two-run home runs from Josh McCollum and Ethan Ibarra.
Mojave 11, Western 2 — At Mojave, Ryan Lawrence threw a four-hitter with five strikeouts as the Rattlers defeated the Warriors.
Liam Harris had a two-run double to key a three-run third inning that got things started for Mojave.
Tyler Ledgister went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI, and Cory Tobin was 2-for-3 with a double for the Rattlers.
Chaparral 8, Valley 2 — At Valley, Tommy Crone was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to help the Cowboys top the Vikings.
Vicente Hernandez was 2-for-3 with a double, and Luis Giro went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Chaparral. Matt Ellison was 2-for-3, and Jose Ortiz went 2-for-4 for the Cowboys.
