BASEBALL: Skyhawks slip past Wildcats

Jerald Murray and Alex Grafiada combined on a three-hitter, and Silverado’s baseball team scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to edge visiting Las Vegas 1-0 on Wednesday.

Kevin Pindel and Dax Fellows had consecutive singles to start the bottom of the seventh. Brenden Gibbons ran for Pindel. Gibbons tried to steal third and came home on a throwing error.

Murray struck out four in five shutout innings, and Grafiada threw two scoreless innings to get the win.

Trey Chauncey went the distance for the Wildcats, allowing four hits and striking out five.

Liberty 2, Rancho 1 — At Liberty, Dylan Miller walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth to give the Patriots the lead, and they held on to edge the Rams.

Jacob Klein singled home Ryan Meservey to tie the game at 1-1 with two outs in the fourth for Liberty.

Ed O’Bannon threw a five-hitter to get the win. He struck out three with one walk.

Jimmy Gamboa singled home Braulio Santiaguin in the first inning to give Rancho a 1-0 advantage.

Rancho’s Anthony Becerra went the distance and gave up six hits.

Chaparral 1, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Mark O’Connor fired a four-hitter, and the Cowboys scored a run in the third on two throwing errors to nip the Jaguars.

O’Connor struck out 12.

Robert O’Connor scored the game’s lone run when he stole second and came home on two throwing errors.

John Gencarrelli and Erick Villareal each hit a double for Chaparral.

Desert Pines starter Silverio Milian allowed six hits in six innings.

Sierra Vista 1, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Sierra Vista, Ryan Carroll drove in a run in the bottom of the first, and the Mountain Lions held on to top the Trojans.

Braxton Anderson threw six shutout innings with six strikeouts, and Victor Guerrero pitched a scoreless seventh to get the save.

Kaven Alferez was 2-for-3 with two doubles for Sierra Vista.

Aaron Fuentes had two hits to pace Pahrump.

Moapa Valley 4, Virgin Valley 0 — At Overton, Koby Frei spun a one-hitter on 87 pitches, with 13 strikeouts and one walk as the Pirates blanked the Bulldogs.

Anthony Cornwall supplied two hits and two RBIs, and teammates Dayton Wolfley and Chase Guesman each added two hits for Moapa Valley.

Jayden Perkins had Virgin Valley’s lone single.

Centennial 7, Wooster 3 — At Centennial, Kyle Horton went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs to help the Bulldogs top the Colts.

Garrett Holden went 3-for-4, and Jake Rogers was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Centennial.

Green Valley 11, Canyon Springs 1 — At Green Valley, A.J. Amelburu was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI to help the Gators to a five-inning win over the Pioneers.

Austin Primack was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Drake Maningo went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Green Valley.

Trevor Berkemeyer was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Canyon Springs.

Basic 11, Eldorado 1 — At Basic, Ethen Ryan threw a one-hitter as the Wolves rolled to a five-inning win over the Sundevils.

Ryne Nelson was 3-for-4 with a double, and Trent Bixby went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for Basic.

Christian Rivero was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and three runs, and Garrett Giles was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for the Wolves.

Julio Rodarte broke up Ryan’s no-hitter in the fourth inning with an RBI triple.

Coronado 16, Valley 5 — At Valley, Noah Hemphill doubled twice and scored twice, and Landen Rowland contributed a run-scoring triple as the Cougars rallied to take down the Vikings in six innings.

Anthony Carro and John Cascardo each added a double for Coronado, which trailed 5-2 but scored 14 runs in the top of the sixth.

Valley’s Geovanni Marrero-Perez-Negron had two hits, an RBI and a run.

Boulder City 14, Del Sol 4 — At Boulder City, winning pitcher Peyton Koopman went 2-for-2 with a triple, a double and an RBI to help the Eagles down the Dragons in five innings.

Kodey Rahr was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Jake Hubel went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs for Boulder City.

Cordell Bowie was 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and two RBIs for Del Sol.

Spring Valley 12, Northridge (Colo.) 2 — At Spring Valley, Jake Sellinger had two hits and drove in four runs as Spring Valley earned a six-inning win.

Bryce Bullock belted a two-run home run as part of a five-run fourth that gave Spring Valley a 10-2 lead.

Donovan Souder allowed two runs on five hits in five innings to get the win.

Jared Hinrchs had two hits to lead Northridge.

Tech 12, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Tech, Alexis Acosta tossed a four-hitter with six strikeouts and no earned runs to lead the Roadrunners to victory over the Miners in five innings.

Acosta also was 3-for-4 with two triples and three RBIs for Tech.

Jalen Birch and Sean Jones each had two hits and two RBIs for the Roadrunners.

Chandler Gehring was 3-for-4, and teammate Logan Campbell went 2-for-2 for Tech.

Wooster 5, Mojave 2 — At Mojave, Zach Whitely and Keith Turnipseed combined on a five-hitter as the Colts downed the Rattlers.

Jonathan Pilch was 2-for-2, and Nick Herr went 2-for-4 for Wooster, which took advantage of two Mojave errors to score three runs in the third inning.

Elijah Glaze had a two-run single in the fifth inning for Mojave.
