BASEBALL: Spada helps Panthers keep postseason hopes alive

Michael Spada singled home Bradley Lewis with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday, and Palo Verde’s baseball team kept its postseason hopes alive with a 4-3 victory at Sierra Vista.
Spada was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and three walks.
J.D. Brooks was 2-for-3 with a double, Zach Ortale went 3-for-3, and Yodai Nakamura supplied two hits for Palo Verde, which is tied with the Mountain Lions for fourth place in the Northwest League with one game remaining.
Nolan Kingham was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and Matthew Almaguer went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Sierra Vista.
Arbor View 8, Durango 3 — At Arbor View, winning pitcher Gabe Gonzalez went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs as the Aggies wrapped up the Northwest League title by downing the Trailblazers.
Kaid Urban was 3-for-4, and Kevin Johns was 2-for-3 with a double for Arbor View.
Gonzalez, Quinn Gallagher and Ryan Brown combined on a four-hitter for the Aggies.
Spring Valley 6, Shadow Ridge 3 — At Shadow Ridge, Joey Melinchok and Nick Rupp combined on a three-hitter to guide the Grizzlies to past the Mustangs.
Michael Macove lashed a two-run homer in the seventh inning, and Cody Watkins added two hits for Spring Valley. The win moved the Grizzlies into a tie for second place in the Northwest League with the Mustangs.
Brady Hoskins tripled, and Jordan Johnson and Antonio Arreola each doubled to lead Shadow Ridge.
Silverado 6, Las Vegas 2 — At Las Vegas, Dillon Johnson was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Kevin Pindel and Nick Kawano combined on a four-hitter as the Skyhawks topped the Wildcats.
Vincent Taormina, Chase Cortez and Michael Camburn had two hits apiece for Silverado.
Jeremiah Garcia had two hits, including a triple, and Jose Sanchez supplied two hits and an RBI to lead Las Vegas.
Canyon Springs 8, Valley 5 — At Canyon Springs, Erick Espinosa went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and the Pioneers used an eight-run second inning to defeat the Vikings.
Canyon Springs took advantage of four walks and three hit batters to score all of its runs. Rashaad Jones picked up the win for the Pioneers, striking out six in five innings of work.
Sebastian Salcedo had a double for Valley.
Chaparral 10, Virgin Valley 0 — At Chaparral, Tommy Crone fired his second no-hitter of the season, and Luis Giro went 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs as the Cowboys blanked the Bulldogs in five innings.
Crone finished with 12 strikeouts, one walk and one hit batter.
Chad Clark doubled twice and scored twice, and Jose Ortiz was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
Boulder City 6, Tech 0 — At Silver Bowl Park, Peyton Koopman went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI and combined with Nick Giunta and Austin Shepard on a five-hitter as the Eagles topped the Roadrunners.
Mario Castanon was 1-for-4 with a run and three RBIs for the Eagles.
Tech starter Abel Martinez allowed just one hit in the four innings of work, but took the loss.
Moapa Valley 11, Sunrise Mountain 5 — At Sunrise Mountain, Chaz Cornwall went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to help the Pirates top the Miners.
Bunker Wimer was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Kannon Evans was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Moapa Valley, which led 11-0 entering the bottom of the fourth inning.
Angel Chavez was 2-for-4 for Sunrise Mountain.
Mojave 11, Desert Pines 3 — At Desert Pines, Tyler Ledgister provided a triple and three RBIs to lead the Rattlers past the Jaguars.
Ryan Lawrence added three hits, two runs and an RBI for Mojave.
Vasifauna Hansell and Iquan Corsey each had two hits to lead Desert Pines.
Faith Lutheran JV 7, The Meadows 6 — At Faith Lutheran, the Crusaders’ junior varsity scored an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh to nip the Mustangs.
Conor Cheek had two hits and two RBIs, and Adam Martinez added two hits for The Meadows.
Indian Springs 19, Lake Mead 9 — At Indian Springs, the Thunderbirds defeated the Eagles.
