BASEBALL: Williams, Longhorns edge visiting Falcons

Donta Williams’ two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning capped a four-run rally, and Legacy’s baseball team edged visiting Foothill 10-9 on Friday to earn its first victory of the season.

Nick DeLuca doubled, homered and drove in four runs, and Austin Michals had a triple for Legacy, which led 6-0 after three innings.

Foothill scored three times in the top of the sixth to take a 9-6 lead. However, Legacy’s Jordan Brown came on to get the final two outs of the inning, and he also pitched a scoreless seventh to pick up the win.

Jack Fredericksen, Anthony Pannullo and Trentin Price each had two RBIs for Foothill, and Ricky Kinney added a double.

Faith Lutheran 4, Palo Verde 2 — At Faith Lutheran, Greg Sylvester hit a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to plate Blake Giuliani and Brandon Davis to break a 2-2 tie and give the Crusaders the win over the Panthers.

Faith Lutheran, which trailed 2-1 going into the bottom of the sixth, tied the game an RBI single by Giuliani. Davis singled and the runners advanced to second and third on a sacrifice bunt by Kyle Poser before Sylvester drove them in.

Poser pitched two innings of relief to earn the win for the Crusaders.

Will Hamilton had an RBI for Palo Verde.

Cimarron-Memorial 7, Rancho 1 — At Cimarron, Niko Decolati was 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and four RBIs as the Spartans topped the Rams.

Trevor Lippard was 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI for Cimarron, which scored all of its runs in the first inning.

Angel Walker’s one-out RBI single in the top of the seventh inning for Rancho broke up a five-pitcher, no-hit bid by the Spartans.

Centennial 11, Sierra Vista 3 — At Centennial, Anthony Saccente went 4-for-4 with three doubles, two runs and an RBI, and Jake Portaro went 1-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs to help the Bulldogs top the Mountain Lions.

Kyle Horton hit a solo homer, and Zach Dixon, Travis Stevens and Hayden Grant each went 2-for-4 for Centennial.

Kaven Alferaz was 1-for-4 with an RBI for Sierra Vista.

Valley 8, Mojave 4 — At Mojave, winning pitcher Jacob Cruz was 4-for-4 with an RBI to help the Vikings top the Rattlers.

Geovanni Marrero-Pereznegron was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jared Limbeck went 2-for-4 with two runs for Valley.

Elijah Glaze had two doubles for Mojave.

Bonanza 11, Eldorado 1 — At Eldorado, Micah Higa went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to help the Bengals top the Sundevils.

Hunter Junge was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Chris Dunn went 2-for-4 with two doubles for Bonanza, which led 6-1 after two innings.

Winning pitcher Kyle Massey allowed three hits in six innings and went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI for the Bengals.

Boulder City 17, Del Sol 4 — At Del Sol, Preston Van Diest was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs to help the Eagles rally past the Dragons.

Nolan Desantis was 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, two runs and an RBI, and Austin Wishard was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for Boulder City, which scored six runs in the sixth and nine in the seventh.

Peyton Koopman added a solo home run for Boulder City.

Cordell Bowie was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Del Sol.

Tech 17, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Trevor Kephart was 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBIs as the Roadrunners topped the Miners in five innings.

Sebastian Fitzgerald was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs for Tech.

Winning pitcher Alexis Acosta allowed just one hit — a leadoff single in the first inning — and struck out 11.

Canyon Springs 16, Western 0 — At Western, Johnny Flores came within one out of a five-inning perfect game and settled for a no-hitter as the Pioneers routed the Warriors.

Flores struck out nine and allowed only one walk — with two outs in the fifth inning.

D’Angelo Gordon hit a three-run home run in his first at-bat of the season for Canyon Springs, which also got a three-run single from Carlos Alcala.

Chaparral 13, Desert Pines 1 — At Chaparral, Tyler Crone tossed a five-inning one-hitter and struck out 10 to lead the Cowboys by the Jaguars.

Sky Espinoza was 2-for-2 with a double and four RBIs, and Crone went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for Chaparral, which had Mark O’Connor and Eric Villareal each score three runs.

Shadow Ridge 7, Riverton (Utah) 6 — At St. George, Utah, pinch runner Cole Greene scored from second base on pinch hitter Robbie Galvan’s sacrifice bunt with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Mustangs by the Silverwolves in the Texas Roadhouse Classic.

Trevin Reynolds started the Mustangs’ rally by drawing a one-out walk, the team’s ninth free pass of the game. Reynolds moved to second when Kyle Gaura was hit by a pitch, and was lifted for Greene.

Galvan bunted to third to advance both runners, but Greene never stopped running and scored the winning run for Shadow Ridge, which led 5-0 after three innings.

The Mustangs managed just two singles in the game.

Lone Peak (Utah) 8, Shadow Ridge 6 — At St. George, Utah, the Knights scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 6-5 deficit and top the Mustangs in the Texas Roadhouse Classic.

Chris Opolka was 2-for-3 with a double two runs and two RBIs, and Dustin McDonald was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs for Shadow Ridge. Reynolds went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs for the Mustangs.

Las Vegas 9, Herriman (Utah) 3 — At St. George, Utah, Julio Seperich went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Trey Chauncey threw six solid innings as the Wildcats beat the Mustangs at the Texas Roadhouse Classic.

Chauncey scattered six hits and struck out seven.

Ryan Freimuth went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, Hector Perez finished 3-for-3, and Eddie Ojeda also drove in two runs for Las Vegas.

Springville (Utah) 12, Las Vegas 3 — At St. George, Utah, Hector Perez went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored in the Wildcats’ loss to the Red Devils at the Texas Roadhouse Classic.

Jaime Solis added a triple for Las Vegas, which allowed nine runs in the fourth inning and issued 11 walks overall.

Arbor View 8, Highland (Calif.) 3 — At Arbor View, Ryan McHale went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Aggies past the Bulldogs.

Ben Cutting doubled and drove in three runs, Joe Fitzhugh went 2-for-3 with a double, and R.J. Rodriguez also doubled for Arbor View.

Quinn Gallagher pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.

Lincoln County 13, Indian Springs 2 — At Mountain View, Mike Wood went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI as the Lynx routed the Thunderbirds in four innings in the Spring Slam.

McClain O’Connor was 1-for-2 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs, and winning pitcher Charlie Scott tripled and had three RBIs for Lincoln County.

Lincoln County 24, Lake Mead 1 — At Mountain View, Jordan Harrington was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and the Lynx scored 17 runs in the third inning to claim a three-inning win over the Eagles in the Spring Slam.

O’Connor was 2-for-2 with a triple, a double, three runs and an RBI, and Wood went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for Lincoln County, which had three pitchers combine to no-hit Lake Mead.

Bishop’s School (Calif.) 4, The Meadows 3 — At Mountain View, the Knights broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and held off the Mustangs in the Spring Slam.

Alexander Agrawal had two hits and two RBIs, and Adam Martinez added two hits for The Meadows.

Mountain View 8, Indian Springs 3 — At Mountain View, Ian Locke fired a five-inning no-hitter and struck out seven in the Saints’ win over the Thunderbirds at the Spring Slam.

Josh Stanton went 2-for-2 with a double and a RBI to lead the Saints at the plate. Locke went 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI.

Bishop’s School (Calif.) 5, Mountain View 2 — At Mountain View, Josh Stanton went 2-for-3 with a triple, but the Knights scored five runs in the fifth inning to rally past the Saints in the Spring Slam.

Anthony Poillucci and Matthew Peterson drove in a run for Mountain View.

Chase Ottofy took the loss, giving up five unearned runs while striking out six.
