Connie Mack: Evan Walling fires perfect game as Bengals win

Evan Walling fired a five-inning perfect game on Friday as the Southern Nevada Bengals earned a 13-0 win over the Nevada A’s in pool play of the Connie Mack state tournament at Bonanza.

Walling struck out nine. Julian DeLeon and Nick DeSoto each had two hits for the Bengals, who drew 11 walks.

Summerlin Panthers 4, Southern Nevada Falcons 3 — At Bonanza, Michael Stanley threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Panthers edged the Falcons.

The Panthers scored the winning run in the top of the seventh on a throwing error. They had scored three runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 3.

Natthew Minkoff went 2-for-3, and Kote Nakamura was 1-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the Panthers.

Jake Perales had an RBI single for the Falcons.

Las Vegas Cats 11, FL Crusaders 3 — At Las Vegas High, the Cats scored six runs in the first two innings and rolled past he Crusaders. Danny Jimenez struck out five in five innings to get the win.

Trevor Johnson had two hits and drove in the game’s first run with a groundout in the bottom of the first.

Jimenez, Danny Verduzco and Lane Adaro each added two hits for the Cats.

Michael Rice was 2-for-3 for the Crusaders.

Las Vegas Mustangs 2, Las Vegas Spartans 1 — At Las Vegas, Kyle Miller and Austin Cullor combined on a two-hitter as the Mustangs edged the Spartans.

Miller allowed a run over four innings to get the win, and Cullor threw three scoreless innings of relief to earn a save.

Ashton Caniglia and Kaden Gandulla each drove in a run for the Mustangs. Gandulla had a double.

The pool play tournament continues Saturday and Monday, with the top two teams in each pool advancing to the double-elimination tournament, which begins on Wednesday at Faith Lutheran.
