Connie Mack: Panthers top Bengals to win pool

Kota Nakamura went 3-for-5 with two RBIs on Monday to lead the Summerlin Panthers to a 16-8 win over the Southern Nevada Bengals in the pool play portion of the Connie Mack state baseball tournament at Bonanza.

Lucas Laurita was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Panthers, who went 3-0 to win their pool and advance to bracket play, which begins on Wednesday at Faith Lutheran.

Derrick Krohn was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

The Panthers play the Las Vegas Mustangs at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the double-elimination tournament.

Southern Nevada Falcons 3, Nevada A’s 2 — At Bonanza, Jakob Heselbetz fired a four-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Falcons earned the win to secure second place in their pool.

Heiselbetz allowed one earned run and stranded the tying run at third base to end the game.

Adrian Marquez went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Falcons.

Las Vegas Cats 10, Las Vegas Spartans 3 — At Las Vegas High, Alex Barraza threw a two-hitter as the Cats moved to 3-0 to win their pool.

The Cats scored five runs in the fifth to break the game open with RBIs from Trevor Johnson, Jacob Peters, Trace Everett and Dakota Iverson.

Johnson finished 3-for-4, and Peters had two hits for the Cats, who play the Southern Nevada Falcons at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Elie Kligman went 3-for-3 for the Spartans.

Las Vegas Mustangs 6, FL Crusaders 3 — At Las Vegas High, Jacob Schilder went 3-for-4 to lead the Mustangs over the Crusaders to secure second place in their pool and a berth in the double-elimination tournament.

Brandon Tressler had two RBIs, and Tyler Black and winning pitcher Ashton Caniglia each drove in a run for the Mustangs.

Michael Rice had two RBIs for the Crusaders.
