COWBOY CLASSIC: Hernandez, Cowboys top Dragons in 10th

Vicente Hernandez scored from second on an errant throw in the bottom of the 10th inning Tuesday to lift host Chaparral’s baseball team to a 3-2 win over Del Sol in the Cowboy Classic.

With two outs, Tyler Crone struck out, but the ball got away from Del Sol’s catcher, who then tried to throw out Crone at first to end the inning, but the ball went into right field, allowing Hernandez to score.

Clayton Tate was 2-for-4, and Jose Ortiz went 2-for-5 with a run for Chaparral.

Tech 5, Valley 4 — At Chaparral, winning pitcher Abel Martinez went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Roadrunners by the Vikings.

Chandler Gehring was 3-for-5 with four runs for Tech.

Alonso Osorio-Kalawe was 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI for Valley.

Del Sol 10, Valley 2 — At Chaparral, winning pitcher Stanley Natale was 2-for-4 with an RBI to help the Dragons down the Vikings.

Christian Wallace was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Cordell Bowie was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Del Sol.

Pahrump Valley 12, Cheyenne 2 — At Mojave, Carlos Rivera was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and the Trojans scored eight runs in the fifth to earn the five-inning win.

Chad Uyeno allowed two runs on five hits in five innings to get the win. He struck out six and walked one.

Pahrump Valley 9, Virgin Valley 3 — At Moajve, A.J. Segura was 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs to help the Trojans top the Bulldogs.

Rivera and Cristian Balding each went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Pahrump.

Kyle Kral threw a three-hitter to get the win.

Mojave 5, Cheyenne 3 — At Mojave, Tyler Ledgister had a two-run single in the fourth inning to give the Rattlers a 4-0 lead, and they held on to top the Desert Shields.

Alex Smith went 2-for-4 for Mojave. Smith singled, stole two bases and scored on an error for an insurance run in the seventh.

Ryan Lawrence went the distance, scattering nine hits and allowing no earned runs, to get the win. He struck out eight with no walks.

Orestes Marquetti and Brian Corder each had two hits for Cheyenne.

Canyon Springs 16, Desert Pines 4 — At Canyon Springs, Edgar Barbarin went 4-for-4 with a triple, and Devonte Hardge was 4-for-4 with a double to help the Pioneers top the Jaguars in five innings.

Winning pitcher Alex Molina struck out 11 in five innings and went 3-for-5, and teammate Jordan Gainey was 3-for-4.

Eldorado 11, Canyon Springs 3 — At Eldorado, Don DiMaggio went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs as the Sundevils downed the Pioneers in six innings.

Ian Reber was 2-for-3 with two runs for Eldorado.

Erick Espinoza went 2-for-3 for Canyon Springs.
