COWBOY CLASSIC: Trevor Kephart’s grand slam gives Tech win over Clark

Trevor Kephart hit a walk-off grand slam to give Tech’s baseball team a 9-8 home win over Clark in the Cowboy Classic on Monday.

Clark led 8-4 going to the bottom of the fifth. Pinch-hitter Drew Cole hit an RBI single to make it 8-5 and set up Kephart’s winning hit.

Kephart finished 3-for-3 with a double and seven RBIs for the Roadrunners. Chandler Gehring went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs for Tech, and teammate Jayce Otis was 2-for-3 with a double.

Clark’s Matthew Thompson was 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

Desert Pines 6, Tech 2 — At Tech, Cesair Bailon threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead the Jaguars to the six-inning win over the Roadrunners.

James Greco was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Bailon also doubled for Desert Pines.

Trevor Kephart had a double for Tech.

Clark 8, Desert Pines 2 — At Tech, Thompson threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts, and the Chargers scored seven runs in the fourth inning to defeat the Jaguars.

Maverick Blodgett had a two-run single, and Thompson went 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI for Clark, which trailed 2-1 after three innings.

Juan Castaneda had an RBI single and a run to lead Desert Pines.

Valley 5, Chaparral 1 — At Chaparral, Jacob Cruz threw a five-hitter with five strikeouts to lead the Vikings over the Cowboys.

Bryce Cowin went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs, and David Trotta was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Valley.

Justice Santiago was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for the Vikings.

Talon Greene went 2-for-3 for Chaparral.

Valley 14, Cheyenne 5 — At Chaparral, Jose Marquez went 2-for-2 with a double and four RBIs to help the Vikings defeat the Desert Shields in five innings.

Trotta went 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs for Valley, and Cruz was 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs for the Vikings.

Christopher Rose went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Cheyenne.

Chaparral 17, Cheyenne 1 — At Chaparral, James Cobian threw a five-inning no-hitter as the Cowboys defeated the Desert Shields.

Mojave 9, Pahranagat Valley 3 — At Del Sol, Rease McClain was 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs to help the Rattlers to the six-inning win over the Panthers.

Elijah Glaze threw a three-hitter to get the win.

Mojave 4, Del Sol 2 — At Del Sol, McClain threw a four-hitter as the Rattlers defeated the Dragons in four innings.

Glaze went 2-for-2 with a triple, a run and two RBIs, and McClain tripled for Mojave.

Gelkis Digurnay was 2-for-3 with a double for Del Sol.

Del Sol 11, Pahranagat Valley 8 — At Del Sol, Jose Galicia, Phil Talamo and Brady Walton each drove in two runs as the Dragons defeated the Panthers.

Chandler Miller added a triple, three runs and an RBI for Del Sol.

Tabor Maxwell was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three runs to pace Pahranagat Valley.

Virgin Valley 9, Eldorado 1 — At Eldorado, Jayden Perkins went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs to lead the Bulldogs over the Sundevils.

Layton Woods was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run for Virgin Valley.

Jordan Eldred doubled for Eldorado.

Eldorado 4, Pahrump Valley 3 — At Eldorado, Trevor Lavenberg scored from third base on a double steal in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Sundevils the win over the Trojans.

Eldred went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs for Eldorado. He also go the win, allowing eight hits and striking out six in six innings.

Garrett Lucas was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Pahrump.

Pahrump Valley 8, Virgin Valley 0 — At Eldorado, Garrett Lucas threw a five-hitter as the Trojans beat the Bulldogs in five innings.

Lucas struck out eight and walked two. He also went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Cyle Havel was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Pahrump.

Liberty baseball coach Rich Ebarb died Wednesday night, the school confirmed. Ebarb has a long coaching resume in Southern Nevada.
