Gorman’s Sheff earns national honor
Bishop Gorman baseball coach Chris Sheff picked up national Coach of the Year honors Friday by the Baseball Coaches Association.
The award was presented at the association’s annual banquet in Tucson, Ariz.
Sheff led the Gaels to their fourth straight Class 4A championship last season, finishing 40-4. Baseball America and Rivals.com ranked the Gaels No. 1 in the country.
In six seasons at Gorman, Sheff’s teams are 192-41-2, including an 81-7 mark the last two seasons.
Sheff also has been selected the District 7 Coach of the Year the past two seasons.
