Gorman’s Sheff wins District 7 coaching honor
Bishop Gorman baseball coach Chris Sheff recently was named District 7 Coach of the Year by the National High School Baseball Coaches Association.
It’s the second consecutive season Sheff has won the award, which encompasses coaches from Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Idaho and Arizona.
He’ll now be eligible to win the National Coach of the Year honor, which will be announced at the association's clinic at Tucson, Ariz., in December.
The Gaels went 40-4 this season on their way to a fourth straight Class 4A state title. They finished ranked No. 1 nationally by Baseball America, Rivals.com and PerfectGame.org.
