GRIZZLY TOURNAMENT: Gilleres’ big day helps Liberty finish undefeated in tourney

Jonny Gilleres went 4-for-4 with three triples, a double and five RBIs on Wednesday to help Liberty’s baseball team to a 14-8 win over Bonanza in the Grizzly-Bengal Spring Break Tournament at Spring Valley.

Preston Pavlica was 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs and three RBIs, and Nick Rush went 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs and four RBIs for the Patriots, who were the only team to go undefeated in the round-robin tournament.

Spencer Faught was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, and Hunter Junge was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Bengals.

Palo Verde 12, Legacy 2 — Cobi Fiechtner was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to help the Panthers down the Longhorns in five innings.

Austin Nilemo went 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Jerron Largusa was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs for Palo Verde. Zach Ortale went 2-for-2 for the Panthers.

Hayden LeCates was 2-for-3 for Legacy.

Foothill 6, Spring Valley 2 — Parker Cole was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Anthony Pannullo and Spencer Throgmorton each went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Falcons by the Grizzlies.

Ricky Kinney was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Foothill.

Bryce Bullock was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Carter Lambeth was 2-for-3 for Spring Valley.
