The senior threw a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks in a 7-1 win over Tech in the semifinals of the Sundevil Invitational. He then went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and picked up the save in a 7-5 win over Chaparral in the championship game.

Sophie Foster, Faith Lutheran

The sophomore helped the Crusaders to the title at the Colorado River Invitational, going 4-0 with a 0.74 ERA, 33 strikeouts and two shutouts.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Will Hafen, Bishop Gorman

The senior had 16 kills, 15 digs and three blocks in the Gaels’ season-opening win over Shadow Ridge before leading the team to an 8-2 record and runner-up finish in the Las Vegas Invitational over the weekend.

Mitchell Abbott, Bishop Gorman

The junior was the medalist in the Gaels’ season-opening match against Faith Lutheran with a 4-under 32 at Canyon Gate.

BOYS TRACK

Daniel Ziems, Palo Verde

The senior won the 1,600-meter run at the Heitkotter Invitational with time of 4 minutes, 27.6 seconds and was the only runner to break the 10-minute mark in the 3,200, winning the race in 9:58.13

GIRLS TRACK

Alexis Gourrier, Centennial

The junior won the girls 3,200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes, 41.43 seconds, beating the second-place finisher by 35.54 seconds. She also won the 1,600 with a time of 5:21.07 and helped the Bulldogs win the Heitkotter Invitational.
