Roundup: 11th-inning double lifts Chaparral over Desert Pines

Jacob Mauro doubled home Talon Green in the bottom of the 11th inning Thursday to give Chaparral’s baseball team a 3-2 home win over Desert Pines.

Green singled and stole second before scoring on Mauro’s double.

Mauro finished 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI, and James Cobian was 2-for-5 with a run for the Cowboys.

Alfredo Ramirez pitched three shutout innings of relief to get the win. Chaparral’s bullpen supplied 7⅔ scoreless innings.

Raymond Minero was 3-for-5 with two doubles for Desert Pines. Steven Laureno went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Salvador Becerra added two hits for the Jaguars.

Laureano allowed one earned run on four hits in eight innings. He struck out nine with two walks.

Coronado 14, Mountain Pointe (Ariz.) 5 — At Scottsdale, Arizona, Cristian Herrera went 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs to lead the Cougars past the Pride in the Boras Classic.

Kyle Rossman went 1-for-1 with a double for Coronado, and Taylor Darden went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs.

Boston Mabeus pitched four shutout innings to pick up the win for the Cougars. He allowed four hits and struck out eight.

Basic 10, Queen Creek (Ariz.) 4 — At Scottsdale, Arizona, Garrett Giles went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run to lead the Wolves over the Bulldogs in the Boras Classic.

Nick Thompson went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Jesse Fonteboa, Kyle Turner and John Howard Bobo each added two hits for Baisc, which scored five runs in the second inning to take a 5-3 lead.

Del Sol 8, Mojave 3 — At Del Sol, Gelkis Digurnay and Chandler Miller each went 2-for-3 with a triple as the Dragons defeated the Rattlers.

Natanael Sauceda had two hits, and teammate Logan Morgan supplied a two-run single for Del Sol, which got the win on the mound from David Prosky.

Zack Casteel had two hits, and Tyler Beadles provided an RBI triple for Mojave.

Shadow Ridge 23, Legacy 6 — At Legacy, Brennen Lyman was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and four runs to help the Mustangs to the five-inning win.

Branson Tressler went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, and Trent McGregor was 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs for Shadow Ridge, which scored seven runs in the third and nine in the fourth.

Kiefer Morgan added three hits and two RBIs, and Dillon Kathrein scored five runs and drove in three.

Jordan Crawford was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI to lead Legacy. Jacob Crawford was 2-for-2 with a run for the Longhorns.

Liberty 15, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Jordan Bohnet allowed on hit and struck out seven as the Patriots blanked the Sundevils in a three-inning game.

Dylan San Nicolas went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Andrew Gallegos went 2-for-2 with a double and a RBI for the Patriots.

Arbor View 16, Clark 0 — At Arbor View, Tyler Whitaker and Jesse Pierce each had a homer and three RBIs to help the Aggies to the four-inning win over the Chargers.

Bradley Stone was 2-for-2 with a run and two RBIs, and Ryan Lystlund was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for Arbor View. Cameron Quincy added three RBIs for the Aggies.

Luke Miles had both hits for Clark.

Lincoln County 17-23, Adelson School 2-1 — At Panaca, Dean Ottley was 4-for-5 with three doubles, a homer and five RBIs in the nightcap as the Lynx swept a pair of four-inning games from the Lions.

Mason Thornock and Kamdon Lewis each added three hits, and Tristan Davis had a double and a triple for Lincoln County.

Alex Vincent fired a one-hitter with nine strikeouts to get the win.

In the opener, Ottley was 4-for-4 with two doubles as the Lynx rolled to the four-inning win.

Kobe Walker pitched a complete game, allowing two hits and striking out five, to get the win.

Lewis was 3-for-4, and Franklin Toledo and Vincent each added two hits for the Lynx.

Indian Springs 14, Sunrise Mountain 3 — At Mountain View, Dillon Pollock was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs as the Thunderbirds beat the Miners in the Spring Slam.

Jordan Flamm was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and teammates Nathan Miller and Ryan Gertz each went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Indian Springs.

Sunrise Mountain’s Brian Ruiz was 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs.

Lake Mead 8, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Mountain View, Mark Costolo was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI and allowed two runs in three innings to get the win as the Eagles beat the Miners in the Spring Slam.

Bryan White was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and T.J. Yurkek went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Lake Mead, which got two hits from Ryan Kennedy.

Spring Mountain 15-15, GV Christian 5-0 — At Mountain Ridge Park, the Golden Eagles limited the Guardians to one hit in the nightcap to earn the sweep.

In the opener, the Golden Eagles scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull away.

Western vs. Virgin Valley — At Mesquite, the game between the Warriors and Bulldogs was postponed because of inclement weather.
