Roundup: Antonio Vara’s single gives Chaparral win over Moapa Valley

Antonio Vara singled home James Cobian with two outs in the bottom of the seventh Wednesday to give the Chaparral baseball team an 8-7 home victory over Moapa Valley.

The Cowboys had tied the game earlier in the inning on an RBI single by Cannon Greene.

Vara was 3-for-5, and Greene went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for Chaparral. James Cobian went 2-for-4 with two runs for the Cowboys.

Moapa Valley’s Hunter Wrzesinksi was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and teammate Gannon Hymas went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Faith Lutheran 14, Legacy 13 — At Faith Lutheran, C.J. Jaramillo’s bunt single in the bottom of the seventh scored Sagan Gronauer to give the Crusaders the win over the Longhorns.

Faith Lutheran tied the game on an RBI double by Jacob Ortega earlier in the inning.

Ortega was 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs and five RBIs, and Parker Sylvester went 4-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run for Faith Lutheran.

Jeremy Aguirre was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI for the Crusaders.

Faith Lutheran starter Nicholas Johnson threw four hitless innings with six strikeouts and one walk.

Forrest Grevelis tripled and drove in five runs for Legacy, which scored four runs in the top of the seventh. Jacob Crawford was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs for the Longhorns.

Centennial 14, Cimarron-Memorial 10 — At Centennial, Zack Simon was 2-for-2 with a homer and five RBIs as the Bulldogs beat the Spartans.

Austin Kryszczuk was 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs, and Trevor Wright went 3-for-4 with three runs for Centennial.

Cimarron’s Trevor Doyle homered twice and drove in four runs, and teammate Zach Culver was 3-for-3 with a double, a homer, three runs and two RBIs for the Spartans.

Elie Kligman added three hits for Cimarron, which scored six runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game 8-8, only to give up six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Sunrise Mountain 9, Cheyenne 8 — At Sunrise Mountain, Cameron McCoy scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh as the Miners defeated the Desert Shields.

Cecil Hall went 3-for-3 with an inside-the-park homer and three RBIs, and Jaycob Campbell drove in two runs for Sunrise Mountain, which trailed 8-7 going into the seventh.

Joseph Moreno homered and doubled, and Zach Childress went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Cheyenne.

Mojave 6, Western 5 — At Western, Try Beadles was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs, and Mike Cianci went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs as the Rattlers edged the Warriors.

Caleb Forepaugh went 2-for-3 with a run for Mojave.

Tyler Matthews went 3-for-4 with a double for Western, and teammate Christopher Williams was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Boulder City 11, Tech 7 — At Tech, Teddy Lobkowicz went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run as the Eagles beat the Roadrunners.

Chafton Temple doubled twice and drove in three runs, and Jimmy Dunagan was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, a run and an RBI for Boulder City.

Sean Morgan drove in two runs, and Jose Leon tripled for Tech.

Virgin Valley 6, Del Sol 5 — At Mesquite, Easton Jenson singled home Daxon Toone with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to give the Bulldogs the win over the Dragons.

Booker Wakefield drove in two runs, and Cade Anderson scored three times for Virgin Valley.

Joshua Ortega went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Del Sol. Brady Walton went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Dragons.

Desert Pines 9, Pahrump Valley 2 — At Desert Pines, winning pitcher Steven Laureano was 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run, two runs and two RBIs to lead the Jaguars over the Trojans.

Laureano went the distance and allowed two unearned runs on four hits. He struck out 11 and walked two.

Raymond Minero was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, and Jorge Milian went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs for Desert Pines.

Garrett Lucas and Willie Lucas each went 2-for-3 with a run for Pahrump.

Snow Canyon (Utah) 7, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Gorman, Austin Deming went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs as the Warriors knocked off the Gaels.

Tim Shakespeare was 2-for-3 for Snow Canyon, and Breck Eichelbeger pitched five shutout innings for the Warriors .

Tyler Curtis went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple for Gorman, which managed only three hits.

Dutch Landis allowed one earned run on one hit in five innings for the Gaels. He struck out seven with three walks.

Coronado 20, Valley 1 — At Coronado, Kyle Hall went 2-for-2 with two doubles and three RBIs as the Cougars routed the Vikings in three innings.

Boston Mabeus, Joey Calvert, Josh Johnson, and Max Fernandez each hit a two-run double for Coronado, which scored 11 runs in the first inning.

Brayden Buttweiler pitched two innings and picked up the win for the Cougars.

The Meadows 15, Adelson School 0 — At The Meadows, Sam Kaplan was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, three runs and four RBIs to lead the Mustangs to the three-inning win.

Brett Lieuallen and Kaplan combined on a one-hitter with seven strikeouts.
