ROUNDUP: Blanchard, Coronado shutdown Gators
Chandler Blanchard threw a three-hit shutout on Friday to lead Coronado’s baseball team to a 1-0 road victory over Green Valley.
Blanchard struck out seven.
Michael Pollex’s sacrifice fly plated Miles Bice with the game’s only run in the second inning.
Bice and Cain Brady each went 2-for-3 for Coronado.
Green Valley’s Ryan Jackson tossed a seven-hitter and struck out eight.
Liberty 13, Rancho 7 — At Rancho, Preston Pavlica had a home run and two RBIs to lead the Patriots over the Rams in the Tom Coleman Classic.
The game was shortened to six innings because of darkness.
Liberty’s James Martz supplied three hits, including two doubles, and Chris Bradford went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI for the Patriots.
Dan Skelly went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Liberty, which fell behind 7-2 after one inning.
Rancho 12, Centennial 11 — At Rancho, Eric Allen hit a home run and the Rams held off a five-run Bulldogs comeback bid in the seventh inning to secure the win.
Bryce Harrell and Chris Fitzpatrick each hit doubles for Rancho, and David Modler finished 3-for-4 for the Rams.
Centennial’s Brady Cook finished 3-for-5, and Cooper Powell hit a triple for the Bulldogs.
Durango 10, Basic 3 — At Durango, Brett Neighbors went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Trailblazers defeat the Wolves in the Tom Coleman Classic.
Sam Melvin went 3-for-4 with two doubles to help Durango, which broke it open with a seven-run fourth inning.
Tyler Long went 2-for-3 to lead Basic.
Palo Verde 9, Durango 4 — At Durango, Michael Spada was 3-for-5 with two RBIs to help the Panthers top the Trailblazers in the Tom Coleman Classic.
Taylor Fajardo was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Kevin DeSoto was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Palo Verde.
Jordan Borlase went 2-for-4 for Durango.
Foothill 6, Silverado 1 — At Foothill, Tyler Van Stone scattered eight hits in a complete game to lead the Falcons over the Skyhawks.
Van Stone struck out three and didn’t walk a batter. He also went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Anthony Lopez was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Collin Dobrolecki was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI for Foothill.
A.J. Mortel added two hits for the Falcons.
Dillon Johnson and Nick Kawano each had two hits for Silverado.
Sierra Vista 4, Legacy 2 — At Sierra Vista, Nolan Kingham scattered seven hits in a complete game to lead the Mountain Lions over the Longhorns.
Sierra Vista scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to break a 2-2 tie.
Quentin McCray was 2-for-3 with a double for Legacy. Luke Baumgarte allowed just two hits, but was hurt by six Longhorn errors.
Spring Valley 6, Western 2 — At Spring Valley, Daniel Endsley pitched a six-hitter and struck out six to lead the Grizzlies over the Warriors.
Logan Mace supplied a double and two RBIs for Spring Valley, and teammate Dylan Drachler had a triple and an RBI.
The Grizzlies plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth to break a 2-2 tie.
Desert Pines 7, Canyon Springs 6 — At Desert Pines, winning pitcher Iquan Corsey helped himself by going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases to lead the Jaguars past the Pioneers.
Vasa Hansell also went 2-for-3 to help Desert Pines, which led 7-0 before surviving a late rally by Canyon Springs.
Chaparral 7, Mojave 5 — At Chaparral, Tommy Crone went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to lead the Cowboys past the Rattlers.
Zach Harman was 2-for-4 for Chaparral.
Tyson Goodrich went 4-for-4 with a double for Mojave.
Valley 7, Del Sol 1 — At Valley, Rayce Rayos went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as the Vikings downed the Dragons.
Abner Alvarado finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Valley, and Jared Limbeck was 3-for-3 for Valley.
Kevin Rocha threw a four-hitter to get the win.
Stanley Natale went 2-for-3 to lead Del Sol.
Cimarron-Memorial 11, Las Vegas 5 — At Las Vegas, Nick Visone was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs to lead the Spartans over the Wildcats.
Niko Decolati was 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs for Cimarron. Nick Borwoski, Micquel Robinson and Jayson Hicks each added two RBIs for the Spartans.
Jose Sanchez was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI for Las Vegas.
Tech 13, Cheyenne 9 — At Cheyenne, Abel Martinez went 4-for-5 with three RBIs to help the Roadrunners beat the Desert Shields.
Bryan Casas went 3-for-4 with a double to help Tech, and teammate Josh West was 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Lamon Harvey went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs to lead Cheyenne.
Arbor View 3, Layton (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Wyatt Burge struck out 10 batters in six innings of work to power the Aggies over the Lancers in the Desert Hills Invitational.
Burge allowed just three hits and no walks in the win.
Evan McMahan had a triple and an RBI the offense.
Basic 10, Cedar (Utah) 1 — At Basic, Skyler Mahoney went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two walks as the Wolves took down the Redmen.
Anthony Lee was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Basic, and teammate Josh McLean went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Bonanza 17, Highland (Calif.) 1 — At Bonanza, Alec Taft went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs to help the Bengals to the five-inning win.
Joaquin Orozco was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Brett Doyle was 2-for-2 with three runs and three stolen bases, and Chris Dunn was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI for Bonanza. Daniel Romero added a home run and three RBIs for the Bengals.
Starter Will McKenna threw four shutout innings and allowed just one hit to get the win.
Needles 8-18, Lincoln County 0-1 — At Needles, Mason Cisneros tossed a four-hitter, striking out nine and walking one to push the Mustangs past the Lynx in the opener.
Benny Robinson was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored for Needles, and teammate Devin Truscott went 2-for-4 with two RBIs , a double, and three runs scored.
In the second game, Jason Neverov went 2-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Mustangs.
Kobee McCorkle and Mason Cisneros each were 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Needles, which score eight runs in both the first and second innings.
Devin Truscott gave up one hit and stuck out six in four innings of work to get the win.
Pahrump Valley 10, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mountain View, Brian England tossed a two-hitter as the Trojans defeated the Bulldogs in six innings.
Josh Mortensen went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Pahrump Valley, and teammate Carlos Rivera finished 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two runs scored.
Pahrump Valley 7, The Meadows 1 — At Mountain View, A.J. Segura was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base as the Trojans powered past the Mustangs.
Austin Neal doubled for The Meadows.
Liberty (Calif.) 19, Lake Mead 0 — At Mountain View, Kyle Cortez struck out six and walked two to record a three-inning no-hitter as the Patriots breezed past the Eagles in the Spring Slam.
Kaidan Meadows and Christian Sinnott each homered for Liberty.
Bishop’s School (Calif.) 14, The Meadows — At Mountain View, the Knights scored six runs in the second and eight runs in the third to down the Mustangs.
Agassi Prep 13, Baker (Calif.) 2 — At Baker, Calif., Marquavyyon Dixon and Antonio City each hit a home run, and the Stars collected 16 hits in five innings to top the Braves.
Robert Blake hit a double and a triple for Agassi Prep. City finished 3-for-4 and earned the win for the Stars.
Tonopah 12-10, Beatty 2-0 — At Tonopah, the Muckers swept the Hornets.
Connor Friel struck out six and got the win in the first game. Jason Carman struck out seven in earning the victory in Game 2.
