Roundup: Centennial’s Nik Dobar shuts out Palo Verde

Nik Dobar fired a four-hit shutout Thursday as Centennial’s baseball team earned a 5-0 road win over Palo Verde.

Dobar struck out four with no walks as the Bulldogs finished the Northwest League series with a 2-1 record.

Dobar also went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Zack Simon was 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Centennial.

Josiah Cromwick was 2-for-3 for Palo Verde.

Bishop Gorman 11, Coronado 3 — At Gorman, John Gaughan was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and five RBIs to lead the Gaels over the Cougars.

Tyler Curtis was 2-for-3 with three runs, and Christian Lamar had three RBIs for Gorman. Ausitn Wells and Ryan Sepede each added a home run for the Gaels.

Joey Calvert was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Coronado, and teammate Boston Mabeus went 2-for-4 and drove in a run.

Virgin Valley 2, Chaparral 0 — At Mesquite, Dillan Fuqua spun a four-hitter as the Bulldogs edged the Cowboys.

Fuqua struck out two with no walks.

Cade Anderson doubled and drove in both runs for Virgin Valley.

Chaparral’s Christian Calzada allowed an unearned run on three hits over six innings. Randy Elosegui doubled for the Cowboys.

Desert Pines 6, Western 2 — At Desert Pines, Steven Laureano went the distance and struck out 12 to lead the Jaguars to the win over the Warriors.

Laureano allowed an unearned run on five hits and three walks.

Raymond Minero went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Juan Castaneda was 2-for-2 with three runs for Desert Pines. Omar Becerra was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and James Greco was 2-for-4 with a double and a run for the Jaguars.

Western’s Xavier Thomas went 2-for-3 with two triples, a run and an RBI.

Durango 6, Bonanza 2 — At Bonanza, Tyler Donohue tossed 6⅓ solid innings, allowing five hits and one earned run, as the Trailblazers defeated the Bengals.

Jacob Bavaro doubled twice, and Ryan Barry supplied a two-run single for Durango, which got the two-out save from reliever Parker Mayo.

Josh Jaglarski had a single, a double, and a run scored to pace Bonanza.

Moapa Valley 13, Tech 6 — At Tech, Chase Guesman was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs, and a grand slam to power the Pirates past the Roadrunners.

Gavin Hadley went 2-for-2 with three RBIs for Moapa Valley. Chase Hadley earned the win with eight strikeouts and one earned run allowed.

Drew Cole and Gabe Kermode each provided two hits and an RBI to lead Tech.

Cimarron-Memorial 14, Legacy 1 — At Cimarron, Lasithe Narasinghe drove in six runs to lead the Spartans to the five-inning win over the Longhorns.

Narasinghe went 2-for-3 with a grand slam. Derek Decolati went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs for Cimarron. He also went the distance, allowing four hits and striking out eight, to get the win.

Arbor View 15, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Arbor View, Austin Pfeifer was 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs as the Aggies routed the Crusaders in five innings.

DeAngelo Smith and Niles Scafati each went 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs, and Jesse Pierce was 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs for Arbor View.

Tyler Whitaker fired a two-hitter with four strikeouts to get the win. He also went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Boulder City 17, Del Sol 7 — At Del Sol, Rhett Armstrong was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs as the Eagles defeated the Dragons in six innings.

Nolan Herr was 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Chafton Temple went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for Boulder City.

D.J. Reese added two hits, including a triple, and scored three runs for the Eagles.

Jose Galicia and Logan Morgan each went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Del Sol.

Cheyenne 12, Mojave 3 — At Mojave, the Desert Shields scored nine runs in the top of the seventh to defeat the Rattlers.

Cheyenne took advantage of six walks and three hit batters in the seventh.

Joseph Moreno doubled and drove in two runs for the Desert Shields, who had only four hits, but were helped by 12 walks.

Mojave’s Logan Forepaugh was 3-for-3 with a double, and Caleb Forepaugh went 2-for-3 with a double and a run for the Rattlers.

Pahrump Valley 18, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Chase McDaniel was 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, four RBIs and three runs to help the Trojans to the five-inning win over the Miners.

Anthony Charles went 2-for-2 with a homer, two RBIs and three runs, and Joey Koenig was 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs for Pahrump, which scored nine runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Winning pitcher Bradda Costa was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI for the Trojans.
