Roundup: Desert Oasis pounds Bishop Gorman

Chaison Miklich belted a pair of home runs to help Desert Oasis’ baseball team to a 14-2 road victory over Bishop Gorman in six innings on Tuesday evening.

Miklich finished 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBIs, and Aaron Roberts had two hits and two RBIs.

Jason Sharman supplied a two-run double for Desert Oasis.

Starter Josh Sharman went the distance, scattering six hits to get the win for the Diamondbacks. He struck out six with one walk.

John Gaughan doubled twice, and teammate Ryan Sepede had an RBI single to pace Gorman.

Liberty 5, Las Vegas 2 — At Las Vegas High, Jimmy Katona doubled home the go-ahead run in the top of the 12th as the Patriots outlasted the Wildcats.

Zanden Shim and Andrew Gallegos followed with RBI doubles for the final margin.

Katona was 2-for-6, and Dylan San Nicolas went 2-for-4 for Liberty, which gunned down a potential winning run at the plate in the 11th inning.

Ethan O’Neal pitched two hitless innings of relief to get the win. Liberty starter Jordan Bohnet allowed a run on six hits over seven innings. He struck out six with two walks.

Nathan Freimuth and Payton Miller each went 3-for-6 for Las Vegas, which threw out a runner at the plate in the 10th inning.

Las Vegas starter Brandon Smith allowed a run on three hits in seven innings. He struck out 12 with one walk.

Palo Verde 2, Faith Lutheran 0 — Jaret Godman fired a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and battery-mate Jacob Godman went 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Panthers shut out the Crusaders.

Josiah Cromwick had a run scoring single and Peyton Cole was 2-for-3 for Palo Verde, which made its 2-0 first-inning lead stand up.

Faith Lutheran starter Joshua Brown threw six innings, and struck out eight while allowing two earned runs.

Centennial 5, Shadow Ridge 4 — At Shadow Ridge, Zach Simon threw a complete game to help the Bulldogs claim a victory over the Mustangs.

Garrett Holden was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Centennial, and Austin Kryszczuk was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Brandon Tressler was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI for Shadow Ridge.

Spring Valley 4, Sierra Vista 2 — At Spring Valley, Jonathan Bakken drove in two runs and Donovan Souder scattered six hits over seven innings with nine strikeouts as the Grizzlies handled the Mountain Lions.

Kade Higgins was 2-for-2 and Mitchell Otis was 2-for-3 with a double for Spring Valley.

Tyler Sunstrum was 2-for-2 with a double and Cooper Kitrel and Tyler McIntyre each drove in a run for Sierra Vista.

Durango 9, Clark 1 — At Durango, Jacob Bavaro tossed a complete game, allowing six hits and one earned run as the Trailblazers defeated the Chargers.

Jake Taylor supplied a double, two walks, a run, and three RBIs for Durango. Justin Lucas, Duke Pahukoa, Irvin Weems and John Stenger each had two hits for the Trailblazers.

Koby Cornejo was 2-for-3 with an RBI double for Clark.

Arbor View 16, Legacy 3 — At Arbor View, Jesse Pierce was 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs to power the Aggies past the Longhorns in five innings.

Austin Pfeifer started at pitcher, and went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs for Arbor View, and DeAngelo Smith went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Jordan Crawford had a double and an RBI for Legacy.

Pahrump Valley 5, Bonanza 2 — At Bonanza, Garrett Lucas drove in two runs with two sacrifice flies, and Brian Horton went 2-for-3 with a run scored as the Trojans downed the Bengals.

Chase McDaniel had two hits, and winning pitcher Dylan Grossell hit a double for Pahrump Valley, which trailed 2-0 but tied it in the third.

Josh Jaglarski went 2-for-2, and Ryan Webster supplied two hits for Bonanza.

Basic 16, Valley 0 — At Valley, the Wolves scored 12 runs in the first inning and took care of the Vikings in four innings.

Garrett Giles was 1-for-2 with four RBIs for Basic, and Trace Evans had a pair of RBIs.

Larry Valenuzela was 1-for-2 for Valley.

Green Valley 17, Canyon Springs 1 — At Canyon Springs, Garrett Nelson went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and three RBIs for the Gators in their three-inning win over the Pioneers.

Scott Gruber went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Jake Empey added three RBIs.

Martin Blake had a triple for Canyon Springs.

Silverado 8, Eldorado 1 — At Silverado, the Skyhawks defeated the Sundevils.

Lake Mead 16, Spring Mountain 1 — At Lake Mead, starting pitcher Dominic Desch went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and struck out nine to help the Eagles beat the Golden Eagles in four innings.

Joey Johnson, Mitchell Dolinar, Logan Sullivan and Alan Underwood had two RBIs apiece for Lake Mead.

Lincoln County 19-17, Democracy Prep 0-2 — At Democracy Prep, the Lynx defeated the Blue Knights twice in three innings to sweep the doubleheader.

Mason Thornock was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Lincoln County in the first game, and Chase Curtis added a double four RBIs.

Matthew Hafen struck out all nine batters he faced for the Lynx in the second game.
