Roundup: Desert Pines edges Virgin Valley

Steven Laureano fired a four-hitter Wednesday to lead the Desert Pines baseball team to a 3-2 road victory over Virgin Valley.

Laureano allowed one earned run, struck out five and walked seven.

Virgin Valley scored first, but the Jaguars took the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth inning.

Desert Pines tied the game on an RBI single by Jorge Milian, and took a 2-1 lead on an RBI groundout by Cesar Bailon.Desert Pines added a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Juan Castaneda, who was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Virgin Valley’s Dillan Fuqua went the distance, allowing two earned runs on seven hits. He struck out 13 with no walks.

Centennial 5, Arbor View 4 — At Centennial, Kian Wilbur lined a single to left field to score Zach Simon with one out in the bottom of the ninth as the Bulldogs edged the Aggies.

Simon walked to lead off the inning, and Michael Jones singled. After Zachary Hare’s sacrifice bunt, Trevor Wright walked to load the bases and set up Wilbur’s hit.

Wilbur was 3-for-5, and Kris Bow went 4-for-4 with two doubles for Centennial.

Hare was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Jones went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Arbor View’s Austin Pfeifer went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer and three RBIs. Jesse Pierce was 2-for-4 with two runs for the Aggies.

Del Sol 3, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Del Sol, starter Jose Galicia struck out 17, and David Prosky had a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning to guide the Dragons past the Miners.

Bradley Walton went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Del Sol.

Brian Ruiz went 2-for-3 with a home run for Sunrise Mountain.

Palo Verde 7, Shadow Ridge 5 — At Palo Verde, E.J. Arnold smacked a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to give the Panthers the victory over the Mustangs.

Jacob Godman went 2-for-3, including a two-run homer in the first, and earned the save in relief for Palo Verde. Austin Raleigh earned the win for the Panthers, who got an RBI double from Nate Bartlett.

Andrue Sanchez had two hits, and teammate Brandon Tressler supplied an RBI double to lead Shadow Ridge.

Mojave 3, Boulder City 1 — At Boulder City, Logan Forepaugh and Mike Cianci combined on a one-hitter to lead the Rattlers over the Eagles.

Forepaugh allowed an unearned run on one hit with four strikeouts and eight walks. Cianci threw a scoreless seventh to get the save and went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Cimarron-Memorial 8, Faith Lutheran 4 — At Cimarron, Lasith Narasinghe was 3-for-4 with a double, a homer and three RBIs to lead the Spartans over the Crusaders.

Zach Culver was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Trevor Doyle doubled and drove in three runs for Cimarron.

Jack Kannon allowed two runs on five hits over five innings to get the win. He struck out six and walked one.

Jeremy Aguire was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Faith Lutheran.

Moapa Valley 6, Western 2 — At Overton, the Pirates scored six runs in the bottom of the first and held off the Warriors.

Chase Guesman and Daxton Longman each went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI for Moapa Valley.

Mark Gastelum was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Western.

Tech 23, Cheyenne 2 — At Tech, the Roadrunners used a 16-run second inning to rout the Desert Shields.

Gabe Kermode was 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs to lead the 16-hit Tech attach.

Drew Cole was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Aidan Perez was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs for the Roadrunners.

Jose Leon and Aaron Shelton each added two hits and two RBIs for Tech.

Christopher Rose went 2-for-2 with a double for Cheyenne.

Liberty 15, Las Vegas 4 — At Liberty, Dawson Beard earned the win with six strikeouts over four innings and was 3-for-4 with three RBIs to help lift the Patriots over the Wildcats in five innings.

Kaeden Camat-Toki supplied three hits, and James Katona had two hits and three RBIs for Liberty, which got a three-run double from Joseph Rush.

Payton Miller led Las Vegas with two hits and two RBIs.

Laughlin 6, Mohave Accelerated (Ariz.) 1 — At Laughlin, the Cougars defeated the Patriots.
