Roundup: Erik Dulittle powers Spring Valley to Grizzly Invitational title

Erik Dulittle allowed one run on five hits in 6⅓ innings Wednesday to lead Spring Valley’s baseball team to a 5-1 home win over Foothill for the Grizzly Invitational title.

Dulittle struck out three and walked two.

Michael Marraro went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Mitchell Otis was 2-for-2 for Spring Valley, which scored four runs in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.

Kelton Lachelt doubled for Foothill.

Boulder City 13, Bonanza 3 — At Bonanza, Anthony Pacifico went 2-for-3 with two homers, four RBIs and three runs to lead the Eagles over the Bengals in the Grizzly Invitational.

Chafton Temple went 2-for-4 with three runs, and D.J. Reese and Rhett Armstrong each added two hits and two RBIs for Boulder City.

Reese also went the distance, allowing one earned run on seven hits, to get the win. He struck out four with two walks.

Keanu Atienza-Sabagala went 2-for-3 for Bonanza, and teammate Matthew Cox drove in two runs.

Lions Tournament

Rancho 5, Valor Christian (Colo.) 4 — At Chula Vista, California, Layton Walls singled home two runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to rally the Rams past the Eagles.

Carlos Hernandez went 3-for3- with two runs and also picked up the win in relief for Rancho.

Hernandez allowed one run on three hits in 4⅓ innings. He struck out seven with three walks.

Palo Verde 3, Westview (Calif.) 1 — At San Diego, Jaret Godman threw a five-hitter as the Panthers beat the Wolverines.

Godman allowed an unearned run and struck out eight, and went 2-for-4 with a solo home run.

Nate Bartlett was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Palo Verde.

Green Valley 9, Francis Parker (Calif.) 3 — At San Diego, Gavin Amelburu tripled and drove in four runs to lead the Gators over the Lancers.

Callan Hermansen was 2-for-3 with a double, and Garrett Nelson and Josh George each scored twice for the Gators.

Jake Empey allowed three runs on five hits in six innings to get the win. He struck out six with no walks.

Silverado 4, St. Augustine (Calif.) 2 — At San Diego, Chris Cortez went the distance and scattered five hits as the Skyhawks topped the Saints.

Cortez gave up one earned run, struck out six and walked two.

The Skyhawks scored three runs in the top of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie. Caleb Hubbard was 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Silverado.

Grossmont (Calif.) 2, Bishop Gorman 0 — At El Cajon, California, Jack Hyde fired a no-hitter as the Foothillers beat the Gaels.

Hyde struck out seven. He allowed two first-inning baserunners when he hit Carson Wells to lead off the game and walked Austin Wells with one out.

But he retired the next 20 batters to complete the no-hitter.

Palisades (Calif.) 7, Desert Oasis 2 — At San Diego, Josh Barzilai allowed two runs over five innings to lead the Dolphins over the Diamondbacks.

Aaron Roberts and Izzy Gutierrez each went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Desert Oasis. Cole Schaefer was 1-for-2 with a double, and Jordan DeMarce went 1-for-3 with a double for the Diamondbacks.

National Classic

Flanagan (Fla.) 5, Coronado 3 — At Bradenton, Florida, Derek Cabrera tossed a three-hitter, and the Falcons scored all of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning before holding on to edge the Cougars in the semifinals of the IMG National Classic.

Flanagan broke a scoreless tie with five runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Cougars rallied in the seventh, scoring three runs on a Taylor Darden hit, but fell short.

Cabrera walked four and struck out seven.
