Roundup: Faith Lutheran nabs road win

Brayden Palluck singled home Lucas Dockery with two outs in the top of the eighth on Friday to lift Faith Lutheran’s baseball team to a 3-2 road win over Bonanza in the Bengal Varsity Tournament.

Dockery reached on an infield single and went to second on an error before scoring on Palluck’s hit.

Jacob Ortega threw three hitless innings of relief with three strikeouts to get the win for the Crusaders.

He also went 2-for-4. Dockery was 1-for-1 with three walks and two runs.

Brandon Rivera drove in two runs for Bonanza.

Boulder City 7, Legacy 0 — At Boulder City, D.J. Reese and Rhett Armstrong combined on a no-hitter to lead the Eagles past the Longhorns.

Reese, who picked up the win, struck out two over four innings, and Armstrong finished the game with four strikeouts and a walk.

Shaun Jones went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Eagles at the plate, and Reese went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Spring Valley 15, Shadow Ridge 0 — At Spring Valley, Donovan Souder and Kade Higgins each supplied two hits and three RBIs, as the Grizzlies blanked the Mustangs in three innings.

Michael Marrero tossed three shutout innings, yielding one hit, to earn the win. Marrero and Braxton Bruschke each had two hits and two RBIs for the Grizzlies, who got three hits and an RBI from Jack Sellinger.

Brennen Lyman had Shadow Ridge’s lone single.

Diamondback Kickoff Tournament

Centennial 20, Green Valley 4 — At Green Valley, Austin Kryszczuk was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and four RBIs as the Bulldogs routed the Gators in four innings.

Trevor Wright was 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBIs, and Zachary Hare wwent 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs for Centennial.

Kian Wilbur drove in three runs, and Mike Jones went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for the Bulldogs, who scored 10 runs in the top of the fourth.

Callan Hermansen had a three-run home run for Green Valley.

Centennial 11, Rancho 1 — At Centennial, Kryszczuk went 2-for-2 with two doubles and three RBIs as the Bulldogs beat the Rams in five innings.

Zack Simon added a triple and three RBIs, and Mike Jones was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Centennial.

Garrett Holden allowed one run on four hits in 4 1/3 innings to get the win.

Rancho 3, Desert Oasis 1 — At Desert Oasis, the Rams scored three runs in the top of the first and held off the Diamondbacks.

Jimmy Gamboa went the distance for rancho, allowing three hits and striking out four, to get the win.

Kagen Kennedy was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Rancho, and teammate Joey Walls went 3-for-3.

Desert Oasis starter Reed Schaefer recorded just one out and left after walking four batters in the first. Reliever’s Dustin Mansell and Stephen Lasseigne combined for 6 2/3 innings of shutout relief with six strikeouts for the Diamodnbacks.

Aaron Roberts hit an RBI double for Desert Oasis.

Desert Oasis 5, Arbor View 3 — At Desert Oasis, Roberts hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to break a tie as the Diamondbacks topped the Aggies.

Arbor View had scored three times in the top of the sixth to tie the game, but Roberts blast gave Desert Oasis the lead, and it added a run on a passed ball.

Chaison Miklich went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Diamondbacks.

Niles Scafati was 2-for-3 for Arbor View.

Palo Verde 2, Arbor View 0 — At Palo Verde, Payton Cole tossed five solid innings with five strikeouts to earn the win, as the Panthers defeated the Aggies.

Palo Verde took advantage of a passed ball and a throwing error to score both runs, with Cole and John Condron crossing the plate.

Arbor View starting pitcher Tyler Whitaker struck out eight and allowed two hits in five innings.

Palo Verde 12, Sierra Vista 2 — At Palo Verde, Josiah Cromwick went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs to help the Panthers to the five-inning win.

Jaret Godman was 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and Scott Cosby tripled and scored three runs for the Panthers.

Cooper Kitrel homered and drove in two runs for Sierra Vista.

Green Valley 4, Bishop Manogue 3 — At Green Valley, Scott Gruber doubled home Jake Empey in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Gators over the Miners.

Empey was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI for Green Valley. Christian Dugger threw two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win. Starter Connor Arneson didn’t allow an earned run in five innings. He gave up one hit.

Bishop Manogue 10, Sierra Vista 5 — At Palo Verde, Calvin Bailey went 3-for-4 wiht a triple, two runs and an RBI to lead the Miners over the Mountain Lions.

Cooper Kitrel was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI to pace Sierra Vista. Nick Morice went 2-for-4 with two runs for the Mountain Lions.

Sundevil Invitational

Chaparral 10, Mojave 5 — At Eldorado, Robert O’Connor went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and three runs to power the Cowboys past the Rattlers.

Antonio Vara was 3-for-3 with a run and three RBIs, and James Cobian was 2-for-2 with two runs for Chaparral, which used a six-run fifth inning to pull away.

Mike Cianci was 2-for-e with a run and an RBI for Mojave, and Rudy Fernandez went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Rattlers.

Canyon Springs 4, Desert Pines 3 — At Eldorado, Caleb Andes scored on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the fifth to give the Pioneers the win in the Sundevil Invitational.

Trevor Berkemeyer went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Canyon Springs, and teammate Luis Osorio-Avila was 2-for-3.

Desert Pines starter Raymond Minero struck out 10, but walked 12 in 4 2/3 innings.

Desert Pines 12, Lincoln County 0 — At Eldorado, Salvador Becerra threw a three-hitter as the Jaguars topped the Lynx in five innings.

Becerra struck out five. Juan Castaneda went 3-for-3 with two doubles to lead the Desert Pines offense. Raymond Minero went 3-for-4 with a double, and Jorge Milian was 2-for-3 with a triple for the Jagaurs.

Tech 8, Canyon Springs 4 — At Eldorado, Jason Collingbourne went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs to power the Roadrunners past the Pioneers in six innings.

Matt Martinolich went the distance, allowing three earned runs on five hits, to get the win. He struck out nine with two walks.

Cactus Classic

Emery (Utah) 10, Valley 7 — At Mesquite, Kyson Stilson was 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI as the Spartans beat the Vikings.

Valley’s Gustavo Donate went 3-for-3 with a double and a run, and teammate Larry Valenzuela went 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI.

Gary Bricker was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for the Vikings.

San Juan (Utah) 11, Valley 3 — At Mesquite, Tanner Johnson went 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs as the Bronocs beat the Vikings in four innings.

Virgin Valley 8, Alta (Utah) 2 — At Mesquite, Cade Anderson was 3-for-4 with two runs to lead the Bulldogs to the victory.

Jayden Perkins was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Booker Wakefield and Josh Abbott each added a double and two RBIs for Virgin Valley.

Emery (Utah) 5, Virgin valley 2 — At Mesquite, the Spartans scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to top the Bulldogs.

Perkins went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Virgin Valley.

Other Games

Foothill 13, Bonneville (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Kelton Lachelt fired a five-inning no-hitter as the Fallcons beat the Lakers in the Summit Athletic Club Invitational.

Lachelt struck out nine with one walk.

Andrew Hauck went 2-for-2 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs to lead the offense.

Salem Hills (Utah) 6, Foothill 5 — At St. George, Utah, Tristen Tolbert doubled home Kyle Coburn in the bottom of the sixth, and the Skyhawks topped the Falcons in the Summit Athletic Club Invitational.

Gage Streit went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Foothill.

Canyon View (Utah) 8, Cimarron-Memorial 6 — At St. George, Utah, the Falcons scored three runs in the top of the fifth to beat the Spartans in a six-inning game at the K.J. Harrison Classic.

Josh Macinnis went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs for Canyon View.

Zach Culver, Lasith Narasinghe and Seth Hoffman each had two hits for Cimarron.

Pahranagat Valley 14, Alta (Utah) JV 10 — At Mesquite, Garret Higbee went 3-for-3 with six RBIs to lead the Panthers to the win.

Pahranagat Valley 15, Emery (Utah) JV 4 — At Mesquite, Duston Stewart tripled and drove in three runs as the Panthers rolled to the victory.
