ROUNDUP: Gators score twice in sixth to edge Cimarron softball

Green Valley’s softball team scored the only runs of the game in the sixth inning Saturday on its way to a 2-0 win at Cimarron-Memorial.
The Gators had just five hits — all singles — but three came in the decisive inning.
Shelby Vickers, who finished 2-for-3, and Ali Bodnar singled to start the sixth, and Alicia Firelein reached on an error that brought home Vickers with the first run.
After a double play, winning pitcher Desiree Laswell singled home Firelein.
Laswell allowed two hits and struck out 10.
Cimarron pitcher Carrie Sheehan struck out six.
Lincoln County 4-9, Calvary Chapel 2-2 — At Panaca, K.C. Jenson got the win in the opening game and went 3-for-3 in the nightcap to lift the Lynx to a sweep of the Lions.
Tera Tibbitts, Michelle Wheatley and Morgan Christian each went 2-for-3 in the opening game as Lincoln County scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to pull out the win.
In the nightcap, the Lynx grabbed a 9-0 lead in the fifth inning and cruised to the win.
Sammie Mann and Laura Perri each went 2-for-4 in the opener for Calvary Chapel, with Perri hitting a triple. Danielle Johnson was 2-for-3 with a triple and a double for the Lions in the second game.

Cheyenne vs. Tech canceled
The Cheyenne at Tech game was canceled approximately 30 minutes after its scheduled 11 a.m. start time as umpires did not arrive for the game.

Liberty baseball coach Rich Ebarb died Wednesday night, the school confirmed. Ebarb has a long coaching resume in Southern Nevada.
