ROUNDUP: Hoskins helps Shadow Ridge sweep Longhorns

Brady Hoskins went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in the opener and 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs in the nightcap to help Shadow Ridge’s baseball team sweep host Legacy, 13-1 and 7-1 in the Bengal-Aggie Classic on Saturday.

In the first game, Travis Caskie tossed a five-inning three-hitter for the Mustangs, who scored five runs in the third and seven more in the fourth.

Alec Pittsenbarger was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Logan Hold went 3-for-3 with a run for Shadow Ridge. Caskie was 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, and teammate Tyler Burton was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Legacy’s Quentin McCray went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

In the second game, Cory Royer and Alex Ayers combined on a five-hitter.

Ben Fitzhugh was 4-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs, and Hold went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Shadow Ridge.

Arbor View 2, Faith Lutheran 1 —
At Arbor View, Evan McMahan’s one-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh plated Kevin Johns with the winning run as the Aggies rallied to nip the Crusaders in the Bengal-Aggie Classic.

Faith Lutheran took a 1-0 lead into the seventh, but the Aggies tied the game when Nick Quintana singled home Kaid Urban in the seventh. McMahan followed with the winning hit.

Quintana was 2-for-3 for Arbor View.

Dakota Greenawalt homered in the third inning for Faith Lutheran.

Arbor View 17, Mojave 0 —
At Arbor View, Adam Koutz tossed a five-inning three-hitter with seven strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with three RBIs as the Aggies routed the Rattlers in the Bengal-Aggie Classic.

Nate Stepna was 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Max Jungblut went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Arbor View, which scored 15 runs in the fourth inning.

Faith Lutheran 14, Mojave 0 —
 At Arbor View, Caleb Summerhays went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, a triple and six RBIs to help the Crusaders blitz the Rattlers in five innings in the Bengal-Aggie Classic.

Alex Jack and John Thomas combined on a one-hitter for Faith Lutheran. Jack struck out seven in four innings.

Silverado 8-5, Bonanza 3-4 — At Silverado, James Skelly’s two-out, two-run single capped a four-run rally in the bottom of the fifth inning of the second game and allowed the Skyhawks to sweep the Bengals in the Bengal-Aggie Classic.

Bonanza scored four runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-1 lead, but the Skyhawks answered in the bottom of the inning.

Vincent Taormina and Nick Kawano each went 2-for-3 for Silverado.

Brett Doyle was 3-for-4 with a double for Bonanza.

In the opener, Taormina went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs, and teammate David Kuzma tossed a seven-hitter.

Cruz Nevarez, Robert Higgs and Joaquin Orozco each went 2-for-3 for the Bengals.

Palo Verde 9-5, Basic 4-2 — At Palo Verde, Colin Janison’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning snapped a 2-2 tie in the second game and allowed the Panthers to sweep the Wolves in the Bengal-Aggie Classic.

Brett Bovee was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Michael Spada went 2-for-3 in the nightcap for the Panthers, who scored twice more in the sixth after Janison’s hit.

Bradley Lewis, Juan Sevilla and Cole Meyer combined on a four-hitter.

In the opener, Spada went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Kevin DeSoto was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Palo Verde. Lewis was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Josh McKibbin went 2-for-4 with two runs for the Panthers.

Coronado 6-8, Bishop Manogue 4-2 — At Coronado, Dylan Myers struck out 13 in six innings of work in the opener as the Cougars swept the Miners in the Bengal-Aggie Classic.

James Anderson was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Brad Fogal went 1-for-1 and scored twice in the first game for Coronado.

In the nightcap, Chandler Blanchard was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Cain Brady went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for the Cougars.

Manogue’s Kyle Pruneau went 2-for-3 with a double in the opener.

Canyon Del Oro (Ariz.) 6-2, Spring Valley 3-11 — At Spring Valley, Taylor Robison was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs in the second game to help the host Grizzlies split the doubleheader.

Michael Macove was 2-for-2 with two runs in the second game, and starting pitcher Logan Mace allowed one earned run on one hit in five innings to get the win.

In the first game, Canyon Del Oro scored three unearned runs in the top of the 10th inning to get the win.

Zane Drachler was 2-for-4 in the opener for Spring Valley.

Chaparral 9, Western 5 ­— At Western, Zach Harman went 4-for-5 with a double, three runs and three RBIs to help the Cowboys top the Warriors in the Bengal-Aggie Classic.

Brian Moya was 3-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Eduardo Jimenez added two hits and two RBIs for Chaparral, which got two hits apiece from Mark Nick O’Connor, Tad Pushard and Tommy Crone.

Ryan Garbowski was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Western.   

Desert Oasis 8, Eldorado 5 — At Desert Oasis, Dominic Paratore stroked a go-ahead three-run double during a five-run fifth inning that lifted the Diamondbacks by the Sundevils in the Lions Kickoff Tournament.

Cody Schmidt went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases for Desert Oasis.

Tyler Oscarson struck out six in five innings of relief for the Diamondbacks.

Centennial 12, Durango 2 — At Sierra Vista, Cooper Powell struck out 11 batters, and the Bulldogs beat the Trailblazers in six innings at the Lions Kickoff Classic.

Brady Cook went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Ricky Koplow finished 2-for-4 for Centennial.

Sierra Vista 14, Durango 0 — At Sierra Vista, Cole Crosby and Tyler Burdett each drove in two runs, and the Mountain Lions rolled to a five-inning victory over the Trailblazers at the Lions Kickoff Classic.

Crosby finished 3-for-4, and Burdett went 3-for-3. Bailey Welter also went 3-for-4 and drove in a run for Sierra Vista.

Nolan Kingham allowed two hits and struck out eight in five innings.

Liberty 10-12, Canyon View (Utah) 2-2 —
 At Liberty, Giovanni Battistoni went 4-for-4 with four RBIs in the nightcap as the Patriots swept Canyon View.

Jay Martz was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Jesse Keiser was 3-for-3 with a triple in the second game for Liberty.

Chris Bradford and Dan Skelly combined on a six-inning two-hitter. Bradford struck out seven in five innings.

In the opener, Bradford and Josh McCollum each went 2-for-3 with a double, and Griffin Kelly and Ethan Ibarra both went 2-for-4 with a double for Liberty

Keiser was 1-for-3 with a double.

Nate Bennett and Battistoni combined on a four-hitter and didn’t allow an earned run.

Cimarron-Memorial 3, Westlake (Utah) 1 —
At St. George, Utah, Nick Borowski belted a two-run home run to center field in the bottom of the first inning to help the Spartans top Westlake in the Little Caesar’s Invitational.

Logan Bottrell doubled to start the inning, and Borowski drilled an 0-1 pitch over the wall to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead.

Tanner McAninch and Brennan Bahr combined on a three-hitter for Cimarron, with Bahr picking off a runner at first base to end the game.

Cimarron-Memorial 13, Foothill 4 — At St. George, Utah, McAninch was 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, and Gerald Robins was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs to lead the Spartans over the Falcons in the Little Caesar’s Invitational.

Nico Decolati and Ricky Dorantes each added two hits for Cimarron.

Anthony Lopez was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Collin Dobrolecki homered for Foothill.

Foothill 12, Snow Canyon (Utah) 5 —
At St. George, Utah, Lopez was 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Zack Avery went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to power the Falcons to the win in the Little Caesar’s Invitational.

Nick Cardinale and Jansen Neff each homered for Foothill.

The Meadows 10, Monument Valley (Ariz.) 1 — At Mohave Valley, Ariz., Drake Gordon threw four shutout innings to lead the Mustangs to a win in the Route 66 Tournament.

Boulder City 4, Mingus (Ariz.) 3 —
At Mohave Valley, Ariz., Billy Barth’s RBI single in the top of the fifth inning proved to be the game-winner as the Eagles topped the Maraduers in the Route 66 Invitational.

Tanner Howell went 2-for-3 with an RBI and picked up the save for Boulder City.

Starting pitcher Tino Ragone recorded six strikeouts en route to the win. 

River Valley (Ariz.) 10, Boulder City 9 — At Mohave Valley, Ariz., Garrett Calloway went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Eagles, but the Dust Devils scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to grab the victory in the Route 66 Tournament.

Ragone and Howell each went 2-for-3 for Boulder City.

Liberty baseball coach Rich Ebarb died Wednesday night, the school confirmed. Ebarb has a long coaching resume in Southern Nevada.
