ROUNDUP: Koenen leads Rancho past Shadow Ridge from mound, plate

Scott Koenen homered twice and drove in six runs to lead Rancho to a 12-1 road win over Shadow Ridge on Thursday.

Koenen was 4-for-4 and added a double, and also picked up the win on the mound for the Rams.

Kevin Kline was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs for Rancho.

Sierra Vista 3-9, Centennial 1-1 — At Centennial, The Mountain Lions’ four pitchers combined to limit the Bulldogs to six hits in a doubleheader sweep.

Alex Estrella and Blair Goldsack combined on a four-hitter in the first game. Estrella gave up all four hits, while striking out five. Goldsack struck out two in two scoreless innings to earn the save.

Dusty Stevens had two hits, including a double and an RBI, and Jake Hager doubled home the go-ahead run in the sixth inning for

Sierra Vista. Scotty Tomassetti added a single and a double for the Mountain Lions.

In the second game, Derron Davis and Hager combined for a two-hitter and the win.

Hager, Tomassetti, Connor Klein, Nick Kingham and Billy Santiwan each had two hits for Sierra Vista.

Chaparral 7, Cheyenne 5 — At Cheyenne, Ricky Perez hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to give the Cowboys the final lead as they edged the Desert Shields.

Jordan January pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts to earn the win.

Raul Jimenez was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Chaparral.

Cheyenne’s Marquis Hall went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Green Valley 4-14, Legacy 0-6 — At Green Valley, Jake Didonato pitched six scoreless innings and Chad Whiteaker went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Gators past the Longhorns in the first game of a doubleheader.

Evan Van Hoosier hit 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and three runs to lead Green Valley in the second game.

Brett Harrison added two doubles, two runs and two RBIs for the Gators in Game 2.

Silverado 13, Bonanza 5 — At Bonanza, Drew Robinson was 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles, three runs and four RBIs to power the Skyhawks past Bonanza.

Mike Meyers was 4-for-5 with three doubles, three runs and four RBIs for Silverado.

Ted Merich was 2-for-4 with a double for the Bengals.

Tech 15, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Travis James pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs to lead the Roadrunners past the Miners in five innings.

Sam Rodriguez doubled and finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs for Tech.

Nick Snyder went 2-for-2 and stole two bases for Sunrise Mountain.

Bishop Gorman 18, Desert Oasis 4 — At Desert Oasis, T.J. White hit 3-for-4 with a grand slam and earned the win on the mound as the Gaels routed the Diamondbacks in five innings.

Neil Lawhorn was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Cory Welch, Joey Gallo and Johnny Field each added two hits for Gorman.

Basic 13, Desert Pines 2 — At Desert Pines, the Wolves scored 11 runs in the top of the fifth to break a 2-2 tie as the Wolves beat the Jaguars in five innings.

Dean Gettman was 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and also went the distance to pick up the pitching victory.

Cody Clark was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Basic.

Spring Valley 8, Coronado 8 — At Coronado, Steven Pollex singled home Miles Bice with the tying run with one out in the bottom of the seventh, and the game was called due to darkness.

Bice singled and went to second on one of eight Spring Valley errors.

Bice had two hits, three runs and an RBI to lead Coronado. Taylor Giordano and Scott Hauck each added two hits and an RBI for the Cougars.

Robby Brewster hit 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and three RBIs for the Grizzlies.

Liberty 22, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Andrew Kouroumousis threw a three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts as the Patriots routed the Pioneers in five innings.

Manuel Menocal was 5-for-6 with a triple and five RBIs. Marcos Rivera and Chris Bradford each went 3-for-4 with a double, and

Teddy Efthemeou had a home run for Liberty.

Cimarron-Memorial 11, Snow Canyon 6 — At St. George, Utah, James Carraway went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and A.J. Hernandez belted a two-run homer as the Spartans beat Snow Canyon.

Steven Lindsey tallied four strikeouts to earn the win, and also had a double and two RBIs for Cimarron.

Granger (Utah) 6, Virgin Valley 1 — At Mesquite, Granger went ahead for good by scoring twice in the second inning and beat the Bulldogs in the Sherm Bennett Memorial Cactus Classic.

The Bulldogs had four players with one single each.

Pine View (Utah) 4, Arbor View 3 — At St. George, Utah, Cole Wilstead’s two-out, two-run double in the top of the seventh inning lifted Pine View past the Aggies in the Marshall Gates Classic.

Zack Hartman went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI for the Aggies.

Liberty baseball coach Rich Ebarb died Wednesday night, the school confirmed. Ebarb has a long coaching resume in Southern Nevada.
