ROUNDUP: Las Vegas tops Valley in baseball

Las Vegas High’s Trevor Lowe pitched a five-hitter on Thursday to lead the Wildcats to a 5-1 road baseball victory over Valley.

Lowe struck out six.

Lowe and Bryce Harper each had a double and a single for the Wildcats. Robert Melendrez also had two hits for Las Vegas.

Green Valley 9, Heritage (Colo.) 4 — At the College of Southern Nevada, Jordan Van Hoosier was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs to lead the Gators.

Chad Whiteaker scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fourth on a passed ball, and Green Valley added four runs in the fifth to pull away.

David Opperman threw three scoreless innings of relief to get the win.

Shadow Ridge 2, Cheyenne Mountain (Colo.) 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Jordan Blaylock struck out four in six innings as the Mustangs shut out Cheyenne Mountain.

Shadow Ridge scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to get the win.

Austin Darby finished 3-for-3 for Cheyenne Mountain.

Durango 10, Pahrump Valley 3 — At Durango, Danny Reynolds went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as the Trailblazers took a 6-0 first-inning lead and never looked back.

Ray Cardenas tossed a six-hitter and struck out 10 for Durango.

Eddie Martinez was 2-for-3 for the Trojans.

Bishop Gorman 10, Spring Valley 0 — At Cashman Field, Stephen Manthei was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs and tossed a two-hit shutout to lead the Gaels past the Grizzlies in five innings.

Manthei had five strikeouts and one walk.

Tyler Wagner, Erik Van Meetren, Joey Gallo and Joey Rickard each had two hits for the Gaels.

Bonanza 24, Western 1 — At Western, Heriberto Orozco went 4-for-4 with two triples and seven RBIs as the Bengals ripped the Warriors.

Sterling Sprau went 4-for-5 with a triple and five RBIs.

Kris Bryant, Ted Merich and Hunter Davidson each had three hits for the Bengals. Bryant scored five runs.

Sierra Vista 13, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Brooks Klein was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI to help the Mountain Lions to the five-inning win.

Tommy Barnes was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Sierra Vista, which scored 10 runs in the fourth inning.

Jake Hager and Klein combined on a two-hitter.

Trinity 15-5, Agassi Prep 12-11 — At Trinity, the Thunder and Stars split a doubleheader.

Trinity’s Avery Harden was 2-for-2 with a two-run home run and three RBIs in the first game.

In the second game, Quawn Spears had a triple and home run to lead Agassi Prep to the win.
