ROUNDUP: Lemos pitches Del Sol to victory in San Diego

Matt Lemos pitched a four-hitter and struck out seven, helping Del Sol’s baseball team beat Morse (Calif.) 4-2 Wednesday to reach the A Division semifinals in the Lions Tournament at San Diego.

Del Sol used a three-run third inning to take a 4-0 lead before Morse scored single runs in the third and fourth.

Scottez Dobbins was 2-for-4 with a homer for the Dragons, who will play Olympian (Calif.) on Thursday. The winner will play in the championship game at 3:30 p.m.

Granite Hills (Calif.) 10, Green Valley 2 — At Granite Hills, Calif., Brett Harrison belted a two-run home run in the fourth inning, but the Gators lost to Granite Hills in the Lions Tournament.

Tyler Blair went 2-for-3 for the Gators, who allowed seven runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Grossmont (Calif.) 10, Silverado 5 — At Grossmont, Calif., the hosts scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the fifth to beat Silverado in the Lions Tournament.

Braden Keathley went 2-for-3 and Michael Meyers 2-for-4 with a double for the Skyhawks.

Carlsbad (Calif.) 8, Foothill 5 — At Carlsbad, Calif., Jordan Stewart homered for the Falcons, who were unable to hold leads of 2-0 and 5-3 in the Lions Tournament.

Rancho 9, El Rancho (Calif.) 8 — At Rancho, Scott Koenen went 3-for-3 and the Rams held off an El Rancho rally to gain a first-round win in the Blue Division of the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.

Rancho carried a 9-4 lead into the seventh before El Rancho scored a run and loaded the bases with one out. Reliever Roy Sipes gave up a three-run double, but retired the final two batters on a fly to left and a liner to second.

Eric Holdren was 2-for-3 with a homer for the Rams and Brandon Pletsch had two doubles.

Shadow Ridge 11, Hillcrest (Utah) 1 — At Hadland Park, Jordan Blaylock carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning, finished with a two-hitter and the Mustangs won an Orange Division game in the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.

Blaylock struck out 11 and walked four. Quinn Moriarty was 3-for-4 with a homer, triple and three RBIs for Shadow Ridge, and Brandon Show went 3-for-3.

Bishop Gorman 15, Jordan (Utah) 0 — At the College of Southern Nevada, Joey Rickard pitched a two-hitter and doubled twice to help the Gaels to a five-inning win in the Blue Division of the Desert Classic.

Rickard struck out six and walked none. Erik Van Meetren went 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Stephen Manthei, Joey Gallo and Tyler Wagner added two hits each.
