Roundup: Liberty stuns top-ranked Basic

Devin Contreras scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning as Liberty’s baseball team earned a 3-2 home win over top-ranked Basic on Monday.

Contreras, who ran for catcher James Katona, scored from third after Jack Hale hit a ground ball to shortstop and Basic was unable to come up with the play.

Liberty starter Jordan Bohnet pitched five innings and allowed three hits and two earned runs. Ethan O’Neal relieved Bohnet in the sixth and pitched the last two innings to earn the victory. Kaeden Camat-Toki hit an RBI triple in the fifth inning, and Andrew Gallegos went 2-for-3 for the Patriots.

Garret Giles tossed 6⅓ innings for the Wolves and allowed five hits and struck out eight batters. He also went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and an RBI.

Cimarron-Memorial 7, Faith Lutheran 6 — At Cimarron, Daniel Valdiva singled home Zach Culver in the bottom of the ninth to give the Spartans the victory over the Crusaders.

Culver doubled with one out in the ninth and moved to third on a wild pitch. Valdiva’s single won it after back-to-back walks.

Trevor Doyle was 3-for-4 with homer and four RBIs for the Spartans, and Seth Hoffman pitched four innings of scoreless relief with seven strikeouts.

Dylan Schafer went 3-for-5 for the Crusaders, and Sagan Gronauer and Parker Sylvester doubled.

Tech 2, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Pahrump, Drew Cole went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Roadrunners defeated the Trojans in nine innings.

Tech’s Sean Jones scored the go-ahead run on an RBI groundout by Andre Nevarez in the top of the ninth inning. Gabe Kermode tossed five shutout innings and allowed no hits for the Roadrunners. Jason Collingbourne came in the sixth inning to relieve Kermode and he pitched three innings to earn the victory. Matt Martinolich threw the ninth and got the save.

Jose Leon went 2-for-4 with a double, and Collingbourne went 2-for-5 for Tech.

Desert Oasis 10, Sierra Vista 6 — At Sierra Vista, Jason Sharman went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a triple to lead the Diamondbacks over the Mountain Lions.

Parker Schmidt went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Desert Oasis, and Chaison Miklich added a double and two RBIs.

Zac Czerniawski went 3-for-4 with a triple for the Diamondbacks, and teammate Izzy Gutierrez had two RBIs.

Nick Morice went 3-for-3 for Sierra Vista.

Bishop Gorman 10, Bonanza 1 — At Gorman, Austin Wells went 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs as the Gaels topped the Bengals.

Carson Wells was 3-for-3 with three runs, and Ryan Sepede went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs for Gorman.

Max Prescott was 2-for-3 with a double and a run for the Gaels.

Parker Aquino allowed an unearned run on four hits in six innings to get the win. He struck out three with one walk.

Rancho 15, Foothill 5 — At Rancho, Joey Walls was 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple, seven RBIs and four runs as the Rams took down the Falcons in five innings.

Edarian Williams was 2-for-2 with three walks and five runs for Rancho, and teammate Chayse Baker tripled and scored three times. Kagen Kennedy also tripled for the Rams.

Kelton Lachelt and Tommy Dirk each doubled for Foothill.

Desert Pines 13, Del Sol 5 — At Desert Pines, Juan Casteneda had a double and three RBIs as the Jaguars defeated the Dragons.

Cesar Bailon doubled for Desert Pines, and Fernando Fuentes had two doubles and two RBIs.

Kewin Ventura doubled, and Bradley Walton and Javier Marti each had two RBIs for Del Sol.

Chaparral 12, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, James Cobian went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI to help the Cowboys to the five-inning victory over the Desert Shields.

Cobian also threw two shutout innings with three strikeouts.

Rodney Elosegui added a home run and two RBIs for Chaparral.

Coronado 10, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Owen Hallet pitched four shutout innings as the Cougars rolled past the Pioneers.

Ryan Murphy came in to relieve Hallet in the fifth for the Cougars and pitched three shutout innings.

The Cougars drew 11 walks. Jake McLean hit a double, and Taylor Darden had two RBIs for Coronado.

Spring Valley 12, Clark 0 — At Clark, Braxton Bruschke was 2-for-2 with four RBIs and tossed a complete game as the Grizzlies rolled past the Chargers in five innings.

Bruschke allowed two hits and struck out nine. Mitchell Otis also went 1-for-2 with three RBIs for the Grizzlies, who scored 11 runs in the top of the fifth.

Virgin Valley 11, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Dakota Munford fired a three-hitter to lead the Bulldogs to the five-inning win over the Miners.

Munford struck out nine with no walks.

Jayden Perkins went 3-for-4 with three runs, and Cade Anderson was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs for Virgin Valley.

Boulder City 12, Western 0 — At Western, Teddy Lobkowicz threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts as the Eagles beat the Warriors in five innings.

Travis Hungerford went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI for Boulder City. Lobkowicz and Rhett Armstrong each went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for the Eagles.

Moapa Valley 11, Mojave 7 — At Mojave, Chase Guesman was 2-for-2 with a triple and four runs to lead the Pirates over the Rattlers.

Daxton Longman went the distance, scattering seven hits, to get the win.

Lake Mead 14, Adelson School 0 — At Lake Mead, Ryan Kennedy homered and scored four times as the Eagles routed the Lions in five innings.

Dominic Desch had two RBIs and two runs for the Eagles, and Logan Sullivan knocked in two runs.

Mark Costolo threw four shutout innings for Lake Mead and struck out eight.
