ROUNDUP: Meyer’s cycle helps Palo Verde past Cimarron in slugfest

Dillon Meyer hit for the cycle, and Billy Bob Ward and Matt Hutchings hit two home runs apiece as Palo Verde outslugged host Cimarron-Memorial 16-7 on Thursday.

Meyer was 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Ward went 5-for-5 with five RBIs, and Hutchings was 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs.

The Panthers blasted six home runs.

American Heritage (Fla.) 7, Bishop Gorman 6 — At Lake Worth, Fla., Robby Buckley belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Patriots past the Gaels in the National Grand Slam Tournament.

Gorman scored five runs in the seventh, tying the game on consecutive homers by T.J. White, Johnny Field and Cory Welch.

Welch gave the Gaels the lead on a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth, only to see Buckley end the game in the bottom of the inning.

Josh Josephson was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBIs for American Heritage.

Arbor View 20, Legacy 13 — At Legacy, the Aggies scored eight runs in the top of the seventh to come from behind and beat the Longhorns.

Arbor View sent 11 batters to the plate and had nine hits in the seventh.

The Aggies scored 12 runs in the top of the third, but saw Legacy chip away at the lead, scoring two runs in the sixth to take a 13-12 advantage.

Tyler LeBaron went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored to lead Arbor View. Zack Hartman was 3-for-4 with a triple, a homer and three RBIs, and Nick Urban was 3-for-5 with a double and three runs for the Aggies.

Colton Hinrickson added a home run for Arbor View.

Adam Thompson was 3-for-4 with three runs for Legacy, and Donald Glover and Andres Ortiz each hit a home run.

Canyon Springs 11, Desert Pines 2 — At Desert Pines, Shaun Dungey went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, and the Pioneers used a pair of five-run innings to cruise past the Jaguars.

Larry Dungey was 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Danny Osorio went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Josh Alaniz was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI for Desert Pines.

Durango 4, Pahrump Valley 2 — At Pahrump, Mike Sukeyasu’s RBI double keyed a three-run first inning for Durango, and the Trailblazers held on to edge the Trojans.

Cameron Toombs had seven strikeouts in five innings to earn the win.

Josh Hull had two hits, Matt Grisnik doubled, and Jordan Hodges added an RBI single for Durango.

Joe McCaw had a triple for Pahrump.

Sierra Vista 9, Desert Oasis 3 — At Sierra Vista, Jake Hager went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and three runs to lead the Mountain Lions past the Diamondbacks.

Julian Cutolo was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Blair Goldsack hit a double and a triple for Sierra Vista.

Las Vegas 17, Eldorado 7 — At Las Vegas, Tanner Chauncey hit for the cycle to help the Wildcats to the five-inning win over the Sundevils.

Chauney was 4-for-4 with four RBIs. Brig Jensen went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI, Dillon Dove scored three runs, and

Quinnton Mack homered for Las Vegas.

Alan Guerrero was 2-for-3 with a home run for Eldorado.

Silverado 11, Highland (Calif.) 1 — At Silverado, Luc Balestracci tossed a five-inning three-hitter with two strikeouts and two walks as the Skyhawks cruised to the win.

Mike Meyers went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs for Silverado, which scored six runs in the second inning.

Centennial 14, Shadow Ridge 1 — At Shadow Ridge, the Bulldogs scored nine runs in the first two frames on the way to a five-inning win over the Mustangs.

Centennial’s Bryan Faucher went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, and teammate Casey Moses batted 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs. Austin Nelson added a three-run triple for the Bulldogs.

Josh Roelofs tripled for Shadow Ridge.

Bonanza 11, Western 1 — At Bonanza, Hunter Davidson was 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI to help the Bengals rout the Warriors in five innings.

Dominic Jeppi was 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs, and Ted Merich went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Bonanza. Jeppi also tossed a three-hitter to earn the win.

Western’s Daniel Buzzard finished 2-for-2.

Chaparral 15, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Chaparral, Raul Jimenez went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Arik Wunsche was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs as the Cowboys routed the Miners in five innings.

Stevie Colon and Ciros Burdier each hit a double for Chaparral.

Faith Lutheran 24, Cheyenne 4 — At Cheyenne, Blake Matthias homered and had four RBIs, and Bobby Burns added three doubles and four RBIs as the Crusaders blasted the Desert Shields.

Nick Bata doubled, tripled and had three RBIs, Dylan Hanson was 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Michael Kinkenon went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Faith Lutheran, which scored 17 runs in the fourth inning.
