ROUNDUP: Palo Verde sneaks past Green Valley

Two Palo Verde players scored on wild pitches in the top of the sixth inning to lift the Panthers to a 7-5 win at Green Valley on Wednesday.

Alex Bonczyk led off the sixth with a home run to pull the Panthers within 5-4 before three consecutive walks loaded the bases.

Brian Szeplak and Mike Pickrell then scored on wild pitches to give Palo Verde a 6-5 lead.

Bonczyk was 3-for-4 with a double, home run, two RBIs and scored two runs to lead the Panthers.

Jordan Van Hoosier doubled and tripled to lead the Gators.

Pahrump Valley 3, Liberty 2 — At Pahrump, K.J. Jasperson went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored to help the Trojans nip the Patriots.

Winning pitcher Michael Gonzalez went the distance with 13 strikeouts. Pahrump’s Casey Clendenen had a double.

Spring Valley 7, Centennial 3 — At Centennial, Aaron Blair threw a three-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Grizzlies beat the Bulldogs.

Blair also went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Enzo Bello was 3-for-5 with a double and Garrett Blair was 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI for Spring Valley. Ryan Hendershot added two hits.

Dominick Monteiro was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Centennial, which scored all three runs in the third inning.

Sierra Vista 5, Coronado 3 — At Sierra Vista, Brooks Klein was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored as the Mountain Lions edged the Cougars.

Alex Estrella earned the win, and Blair Goldsacks picked up the save.

Scotty Tomassetti drove in two runs for Sierra Vista.

Taylor Giando was 2-for-3 with a double for Coronado.

Eldorado 20, Clark 10 — At Eldorado, Daniel LeCavalier went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, three runs and six RBIs to lead the Sundevils past the Chargers.

Casey Roehr was 1-for-2 with a home run, four runs and two RBIs for Eldorado, which trailed 6-2 in the second inning.

Cheyenne 12, Boulder City 3 — At Cheyenne, Mark Gederos went the distance, allowing two earned runs, as the Desert Shields downed the Eagles.

Jacob Hoff went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs and Brandon Duhon was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Cheyenne.

Boulder City’s Adam Eudy went 2-for-3.

Las Vegas 19, Shadow Ridge 2 — At Las Vegas, the Wildcats scored 19 runs on 10 hits to rout the Mustangs in a game shortened by the run rule.

Six of Las Vegas’ 10 hits were doubles.

Bryce Harper was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a double to lead Las Vegas, which led 15-1 after two innings. Brig Jensen drove in three runs.

Alan Butler had two hits for Shadow Ridge.

Silverado 15, Durango 4 — At Silverado, Morgan Stotts was 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs to lead the Skyhawks past the Trailblazers.

Drew Robinson was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Silverado.

Zach Hollenback was 2-for-3 with a home run for Durango. 

Brophy Prep (Ariz.) 10, Bishop Gorman 8 — At Scottsdale, Ariz., Brandon Bayardi hit a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the Broncos past the Gaels at the Big League Dugout Invitational.

Bayardi, who has signed with UNLV, homered twice and earned the win after allowing two runs in relief.

Joey Rickard was 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and scored three runs to lead Gorman. Stephen Manthei went 3-for-5 and scored two runs and Johnny Field belted a three-run homer for the Gaels.
