Roundup: Shadow Ridge edges Centennial

Branson Tressler was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI as Shadow Ridge’s baseball team edged host Centennial 4-3 on Wednesday.

Trent McGregor was 2-for-4 with a double and a run, and Tyler Black doubled and drove in two for Shadow Ridge, which scored twice in the top of the sixth to extend its lead to 4-1.

The Bulldogs answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Mason Rhiner scattered six hits and struck out six in six innings to get the win. Mitchell Maxfield pitched a scoreless seventh to get a save.

Zack Simon was 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Centennial, and teammate Anthony Martinez went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Faith Lutheran 5, Palo Verde 4 — At Faith Lutheran, Jacob Ortega was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and the walk-off RBI single that scored Sagan Gronauer in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Crusaders over the Panthers.

Gronauer supplied an RBI single that scored Dylan Schafer to tie it 4-4 for Faith Lutheran. Schafer scored twice, and Parker Sylvester supplied two hits and two RBIs for the Crusaders.

Nicholas Johnson threw two innings of scoreless relief to get the win.

Jacob Godman doubled and homered to lead Palo Verde.

Arbor View 8, Legacy 4 — At Legacy, Austin Pfeifer homered for the ninth consecutive game to lead the Aggies over the Longhorns.

Pfeifer was 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs. DeAngelo Smith and Tyler Whitaker each added two RBIs for Arbor View, which led 8-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth.

Whitaker allowed four hits in five shutout innings to get the win. He struck out 12 and walked one.

Zachary Ahmed went 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and a run for Legacy. Noah Lomeli added two hits for the Longhorns.

Moapa Valley 7, Chaparral 0 — At Overton, Chase Hadley fired a five-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and drove in a run as the Pirates shut down the Cowboys.

Coby Longman had a run-scoring base hit, and Chase Guesman drove in a run with a triple for Moapa Valley, which scored five times in the fifth inning.

Jacob Mauro and Rodney Elosegui each had two hits for Chaparral.

Del Sol 8, Virgin Valley 7 — At Del Sol, winning pitcher Jose Galicia hit a two-run double and threw six innings with five strikeouts, helping the Dragons to stave off the Bulldogs.

Aristoteles Flores added a two-run double for Del Sol, which led 6-1 after three innings.

Tristan Vargas supplied two hits and an RBI and Bradley Walton hit a double for Del Sol.

Booker Wakefield had a double and two RBIs, and Dillan Fuqua drove in two runs for Virgin Valley.

Sunrise Mountain 6, Cheyenne 5 — At Cheyenne, Cecil Hall tripled as the Miners came back to beat the Desert Shields.

Sunrise Mountain trailed 5-2 after two innings, and scored two in the top of the seventh.

Christopher Rose and Angel Astorga both doubled for the Desert Shields.

Pahrump Valley 5, Desert Pines 3 — At Pahrump, Garrett Lucas threw six strong innings with nine strikeouts and batterymate Willie Lucas doubled and drove in two runs as the Trojans bested the Jaguars.

Tyler Floyd went 2-for-2 with a double, and Dylan Grossell added a double for Pahrump, which led 3-0 after three innings.

Juan Casteneda hit a two-run homer, James Greco hit a double and Cesar Bailon had two hits for Desert Pines.

Las Vegas 19, Bonanza 9 — At Las Vegas High, Daniel Jimenez went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and Joel Lindahl supplied two hits and four RBIs as the Wildcats overpowered the Bengals in five innings.

Nathan Freimuth had three hits, including a double, and drove in a run for Las Vegas. Leonel Anaya added a double and an RBI for the Wildcats, which scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first after trailing 4-0.

Bonanza’s Josh Jaglarski went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Ryan Webster had two singles, a double, and an RBI for the Bengals.

Boulder City 14, Tech 2 — At Boulder City, the Eagles scored eight runs in the bottom of the first and rolled to the five-inning win over the Roadrunners.

Chafton Temple went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs for Boulder City. D.J. Reese and Nolan Herr each added two RBIs for the Eagles.

Joey Giunta pitched 4⅓ innings of scoreless relief to get the win. He allowed two hits, struck out four and walked one.

Gabe Kermode went 2-for-3 for Tech.

Western 14, Mojave 5 — At Mojave, winning pitcher Adrian Oles struck out 11 batters in five innings of work and went 5-for-6 with a double and five RBIs to power the Warriors to the win over the Rattlers.

Tyler Matthews, singled, doubled and drove in two runs, and Michael Davison had two hits for Western, which plated eight runs in the fifth inning.

Caleb Forepaugh went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run, and Eurico Rodriguez-Cardenas doubled, drove in a run and scored for Mojave.

The Meadows 18, Calvary Chapel 7 — At The Meadows, Sam Kaplan was 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs to lead the Mustangs to the five-inning win over the Lioins.

Brandon Medina went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs for The Meadows and also fanned nine in four innings of relief to get the win.
