ROUNDUP: Spring Valley clinches Southwest’s No. 2 seed with late uprising

Garrett Blair went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Spring Valley’s baseball team scored five runs in the final two innings to gain a 9-4 victory at Pahrump Valley on Thursday.

Josh Schuster (three runs) and Josh Stout (two RBIs) both went 2-for-4 for the Grizzlies, who gained the Southwest League’s No. 2 seed for the Sunset Region playoffs.

Eddie Martinez, Mike Gonzalez and Sam Morrow each had a hit and an RBI for the Trojans.

Sierra Vista 15, Bonanza 5 — At Sierra Vista, Brooks Klein compiled four RBIs on a home run, two triples and a double, leading the Mountain Lions over the Bengals in five innings.

Connor Klein was 3-for-3 with a homer, three runs and two RBIs.

Bishop Gorman 13, Desert Oasis 1 — At Desert Oasis, Jeff Malm, Tyler Wagner and R.J. Santigate combined to pitch a five-hitter and the Gaels routed the Diamondbacks in five innings.

Malm and Joey Rickard each had a homer and a double, and Santigate supplied a triple and four RBIs. Wagner added a homer.

Brennen Stott was 2-for-3 and Dillon Krasn had a double and an RBI for Desert Oasis. 

Rancho 16, Canyon Springs 2 — At Rancho, James Cammack hit a grand slam, and four pitchers combined on a one-hitter to lead the Rams over the Pioneers in five innings.

Michael Cruz, Kevin Kline and Roy Sipes had two hits apiece for Rancho.

Valley 5, Chaparral 3 — At Chaparral, Jesse Acosta and Dayan Oses singled and came home on Matt Newark’s two-run double to break a fifth-inning tie as the Vikings defeated the Cowboys.

Oses was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI.

Jake Dahlman went 2-for-3 for Chaparral.

Eldorado 11, Desert Pines 1 — At Eldorado, the Sundevils scored six runs in the fourth inning and closed out the Jaguars in five.

Eldorado’s Daniel LeCavalier hit a two-run homer in the first inning. Casey Roehr, Alan Guerrero and Eric Larsen had two hits each.

Las Vegas 10, Palo Verde 7 — At Palo Verde, Tanner Chauncey had a single, double and two RBIs to help the Wildcats beat the Panthers.

Dillon Dove, Brig Jensen and Quinnton Mack had two hits each for Las Vegas.

Palo Verde’s Dustin Morelli (three RBIs) and Christian Centrella each tripled, and Dan Jaffe was 2-for-4 with a double.

Centennial 6, Foothill 3 — At Centennial, Bulldogs winning pitcher Sam Friend hit a solo homer and allowed one run on two hits in four innings. He struck out seven.

Loral Monson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Chapman Schmidt 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI for Centennial. Christian Bernal and Troy Hunter added two hits each.

Hugo Enriquez was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Foothill.
