ROUNDUP: Third-inning slugfest leads Rams to rout

Rancho opened the third inning with 12 consecutive hits Friday on the way to a 22-2 win over Mamaroneck (N.Y.) at the Mesa Spring Invitational in Mesa, Ariz.
The Rams scored 11 runs in the top of the third to take a 16-2 lead and rolled to the win.
Kevin Kline went 5-for-5 with two doubles, Scott Koenen was 3-for-3 and Michael Cruz went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple for the Rams, who had five extra-base hits in the third.
Zak Qualls allowed two runs on two hits in the bottom of the first, but didn’t allow another hit to earn the win. Qualls struck out seven.
Rancho will take on Mamaroneck at 1 p.m. Saturday in the title game.
Rancho 12, Payson (Utah) 2 — At Mesa, Ariz., Koenen was 4-for-4 with a triple, a homer, three runs and three RBIs to lead the Rams to the five-inning win.
Cruz went 2-for-4 with a double, and Brandon Pletsch was 2-for-4 for Rancho.
P.J. Matha threw a four-hitter to get the win.
Vauxhall (Canada) 9, Valley 7 — At Valley, the Vikings fell in the Bishop Gorman Easter Classic despite Marcus Mejia going 2-for-4 with a three-run home run.
Mitchell Diesko and Juan Deolarte added two hits apiece for Valley.
