ROUNDUP: Turnbull four-hitter helps Mustangs finish 4-0 in Utah tourney

Danny Turnbull tossed a four-hitter and struck out seven Saturday to help Shadow Ridge’s baseball team to an 11-1 win over Logan (Utah) in the Desert Winds Tournament in St. George, Utah.
The Mustangs, who later downed Skyline (Utah) 15-5, finished the five-team round-robin tournament at 4-0.
Troy Williams went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Shadow Ridge. Mike Wager was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, and Brandon Show went 2-for-4 with a double for the Mustangs.
Shadow Ridge 15, Skyline (Utah) 5 — At St. George, Utah, winning pitcher Josh Roelofs went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and two RBIs as the Mustangs rolled the Eagles in six innings.
Williams went 4-for-4 with a triple, a double and three RBIs, and Wager was 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for Shadow Ridge. Bruce Butler was 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs, and Mitchell Shields went 3-for-4 with two doubles for the Mustangs.
Bishop Gorman 16, St. Mary’s (Ariz.) 4 — At Gorman, Joey Gallo was 2-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs to help the Gaels to the five-inning win.
Cody Roper added a triple, a home run and four RBIs for the Gaels, who scored 11 runs in the bottom of the fifth.
A.J. Van Meetren also homered for Gorman.
Arbor View 8, Cheyenne Mountain (Colo.) 2 — At Arbor View, winning pitcher Tyler LeBaron went 2-for-4 with two RBIs as the Aggies cruised past the Indians.
P.J. Gonzalez and Evan McMahan each went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Arbor View, including a triple by Gonzalez.
Rancho 16, Faith Lutheran 1 — At Rancho, Kevin Kline was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Brandon Pletsch went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI as the Rams routed the Crusaders in five innings.
Scott Koenen was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Zak Qualls went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs for Rancho.
Gabe Chavira had a two-run home run and four RBIs for the Rams.
Mountain View 14, Virginia City 6 — At Mountain View, winning pitcher Logan Christie went 2-for-4 with a double as the Saints did all of their scoring in the first two innings and downed the Muckers in a four-inning Spring Slam game.
Korey Wood hit 2-for-2 with three runs for Mountain View.
Virginia City 22, Indian Springs 0 — At Mountain View, the Muckers erupted for 13 second-inning runs and blitzed the Thunderbirds in a three-inning game.
Two Virginia City pitchers combined on a no-hitter.
The Meadows 7, Victor Valley Christian (Calif.) 3 — At Mountain View, Garrett Gosse struck out 18 hitters to lead the Mustangs to the win.
Gosse carried a no-hitter into the seventh-inning before settling with a four-hitter.
The 18 strikeouts were one short of the Nevada record, set by North Tahoe’s Shawn Price in 1986.
Gosse struck out the side on nine pitches in the third inning.
The Meadows scored six first-inning runs and never looked back.
Lincoln County 6, Carlin 6 — At Mountain View, Nick Hurst scored the tying run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Lynx and Railroaders played to a time-limit draw.
Ryan Lloyd belted a two-run home run in the fifth inning for Lincoln County, which trailed 6-1 before rallying.
Lincoln County 7, Victor Valley Christian (Calif.) 6 — At Mountain View, Joey Vincent’s RBI single in the top of the fifth inning plated Hurst with the winning run as the Lynx edged Victor Valley in five innings.
Vincent finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Lloyd went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Lincoln County,
