ROUNDUP: Verdugo powers Rams past Wolves

Jose Verdugo went 3-for-4 for with a double, a home run and seven RBIs Friday to help Rancho’s baseball team rout host Basic, 12-1 in five innings.

Bryce Harrell finished 2-for-3 with a double and four runs scored for the Rams. Eric Allen and Zach Barnhart added two hits apiece for Rancho.

Rancho’s Josh Mill tossed a four-hitter and struck out six.

Valley 13, Cheyenne 10 —
At Cheyenne, Jared Limbeck’s RBI single sparked a three-run seventh inning to help the Vikings defeat the Desert Shields.

Hayden Minyard went 3-for-5 with a double to lead Valley, which rallied late after blowing a 4-0 first-inning lead.

Thomas Soltero went 3-for-3 with two triples to lead Cheyenne.

Spring Valley 6, Bonanza 4 —
At Spring Valley, Bryan Bierlein went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Grizzlies past the Bengals.

Alec Taft had two doubles to lead Bonanza.

Liberty 7, Green Valley 1 —
At Green Valley, Josh McCollum went 2-for-3 with a double to help the Patriots roll past the Gators.

Dan Skelly went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to help Liberty, which broke it open with five runs in the first two innings.

Cody Milner went 3-for-4 with a double to lead Green Valley.

Legacy 6, Moapa Valley 2 — At Moapa Valley, Robbie Galvan went 2-for-3 to lead the Longhorns past the Pirates.

Joey Ingarra went 2-for-3 to help Legacy, which broke open a close game with four runs in the sixth inning.

Shadow Ridge 11, Sky View (Utah) 1 — At St. George, Utah, Travis Caskie was 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple and three runs to lead the Mustangs to a six-inning win in the Snow Canyon Classic.

Logan Hold was 1-for-2 with a run and three RBIs for Shadow Ridge, which used a seven-run fifth to break the game open.

Cory Royer allowed just one hit and one run in five innings of work for the Mustangs.

Shadow Ridge 11, Highland (Utah) 0 —
At St. George, Utah, Bradly Liuzza was 1-for-1 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs, and Alec Pittsenbarger went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs as the Mustangs rolled to a five-inning win in the Snow Canyon Classic.

Hold was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, a run and an RBI for Shadow Ridge.

Travis Caskie tossed a two-hitter, walking one and striking out 10.

Sunrise Mountain 5, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Austin Ganigan tossed a five-hit shutout with eight strikeouts, and the Miners downed the Jaguars.

Brandon Medeiros went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run double as part of a three-run third inning. Zeus Perez went 2-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base.

Mojave 11, Canyon Springs 4 —
At Canyon Springs, Tyson Goodrich tossed a three-hitter and struck out 12 to lead the Rattlers by the Pioneers.

Andrew Ehrensaft had a triple and three RBIs, and Jordan Gainey was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for Mojave.

Isiah Carter was 1-for-2 with two runs and three stolen bases for Canyon Springs.

Snow Canyon (Utah) 13, Las Vegas 2 —
At St. George, Utah, Snow Canyon scored seven runs in the bottom of the first and rolled to the win in the Snow Canyon Classic.

J.D. Garcia was 2-for-2 with a solo homer for Las Vegas, which allowed 18 hits.

Las Vegas 17, Judge Memorial (Utah) 4 —
At St. George, Utah, Nolan Cassell went 4-for-4 with a double and five RBIs to lead the Wildcats to the win in the Snow Canyon Classic.

Jose Sanchez was 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs and an RBI, and Eddie Ojeda, Hector Perez and Garcia each added two hits for Las Vegas, which scored 10 runs in the top of the fifth.

Jerome Byndloss struck out 12 in five innings for Las Vegas.

Cimarron-Memorial 13, Sierra Vista 3 — At Cimarron, Jayson Hicks, Tanner McAninch and Josh Nuernberg each drove in two runs to help the Spartans to the six-inning win.

Nick Borowski went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Gerald Robins scored twice for Cimarron.

Tyler Burdett was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Sierra Vista.

Boulder City 15, Chaparral 2 — At Chaparral, Corbett Fleming went 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs, and Colton Bosnos added a grand slam to power the Eagles by the Cowboys in five innings.

Billy Barth was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Tanner Howell and Garrett Calloway each went 2-for-3 for Boulder City.

Brian Moya was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Chaparral.

Lincoln County 11-8, Laughlin 1-12 — At Panaca, McClain O’Connor tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts, and Nate Cotrell and Colton Johnson each drove in two runs as the Lynx beat the Cougars in the opener of a doubleheader.

Johnson was 2-for-3, while Cotrell and Chris Florence finished 2-for-4.

In the second game,  Haylan Drescher went 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI to lead Laughlin.

Justin Quibell also went 3-for-5 for the Cougars, and Jordan Shepard struck out six and allowed two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings.

Florence doubled for Lincoln County, which scored six times in the seventh inning of the nightcap.

Needles 14-20, Agassi Prep 0-2 — At Agassi Prep, Aidan Shaver went 5-for-6 and picked up a pitching victory to help the Mustangs sweep the Stars.

Shaver threw a three-hitter with eight strikeouts in the first game.

Benny Robinson was 3-for-5 with two triples and five RBIs in the second game.
