ROUNDUP: York’s walk-off hit sends Basic baseball past Falcons in extra innings

Mikey York singled to right center with one out in the bottom of the eighth to score Skyler Mahoney and give Basic’s baseball team a 3-2 win over visiting Foothill on Thursday.

Ryan Blatnik hit a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh to force the extra frame.

Tyler Long went the distance for the Wolves, scattering eight hits, to get the win.

A.J. Mortel finished 2-for-3 to lead the Falcons.

Desert Oasis 6, Centennial 5 — At Desert Oasis, Chris Van Kuren scored the winning run on a throwing error with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Diamondbacks edged the Bulldogs.

Van Kuren led off the seventh with a walk and moved to second on Bryson Stott’s sacrifice bunt. After a popout, Zach Rickard hit a grounder up the middle that Centennial’s shortstop knocked down, but the throw to first was off-target, allowing Van Kuren to score.

Cody Schmidt went 2-for-3 with a double for Desert Oasis, which had just six hits.

Ricky Koplow was 2-for-4 with a double for Centennial.

Liberty 13, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Jesse Keiser finished 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple and two RBIs to power the Patriots over the Dragons.

Giovanni Battistoni went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Preston Pavlica was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Liberty.

Dylan Greer had a double for Del Sol’s only hit.

Coronado 11, Eldorado 1 — At Coronado, Miles Bice was 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, two runs and four RBIs to lead the Cougars by the Sundevils in six innings.

Brad Fogal was 2-for-2 with two runs for Coronado.

Cougars starter Jackson Cofer allowed just two hits and struck out six in five innings.

Lucio Arreola was 2-for-3 with a double for Eldorado.

Boulder City 11, Sunrise Mountain 3 — At Boulder City, Bill Barth went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Corbett Fleming was 3-for-4 with three runs as the Eagles topped the Miners.

D.J. Koopman was 2-for-3 with two runs, and Tanner Howell was 1-for-2 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs for Boulder City.

Saul Blanco was 3-for-3 for Sunrise Mountain.

Chaparral 13, Desert Pines 2 — At Desert Pines, Tommy Crone improved to 6-0 after pitching a two-hitter to lead the Cowboys over the Jaguars in six innings.

Crone struck out 12 batters, including nine in a row, and finished 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs.
Luis Giro also homered for the Cowboys.

Bonanza 12, Legacy 2 — At Bonanza, Travis Ming went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Bengals past the Longhorns in five innings.

Nick Risucci and Brett Doyle each supplied two RBIs, and Robert Higgs went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for the Bengals.

Kain White doubled for Legacy.

Las Vegas 2, Wooster 0 — At Las Vegas, Jeremiah Garcia tossed a one-hitter to lead the Wildcats by the Colts.
Garcia struck out 11 and surrendered only a third-inning single and a walk.

Liberty baseball coach Rich Ebarb died Wednesday night, the school confirmed. Ebarb has a long coaching resume in Southern Nevada.
