SMALL-SCHOOL BASEBALL: O’Connor, Lynx win Division III tournament

McClain O’Connor went 3-for-4 with a triple, two doubles, two runs and three RBIs Saturday to lead host Lincoln County’s baseball team to the Division III Southern League tournament title with an 11-5 victory over Needles.
Chris Florence went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Charlie Scott was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Lynx (20-6), who scored four times in the second inning to take control and four more in the sixth to put the game away.
Mason Paget was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Needles (15-15).
Both teams advance to next week’s state tournament.
DIVISION IV
Wade Leavitt tossed a five-inning no-hitter as host Pahranagat Valley’s baseball team secured the Division IV Southern Region title with a 13-2 win over Tonopah.
Leavitt walked four and struck out nine.
Tabor Maxwell went 3-for-4 with a game-ending two-run home run and four RBIs for the Panthers (20-2).
Christian Higbee was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, and Paden Higbee went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Pahranagat Valley, which joins the Muckers (17-8) at next week’s state tournament.
