State champions for the 2016 spring season

Here is a recap of every team that won a state title during the 2016 spring sports season and will be looking to defend this upcoming season. With the new realignment, there no longer will be Division I, I-A, III or IV, but instead Class 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A.

Faith Lutheran, Clark, Sierra Vista and Spring Valley all will be moving from Division I-A to Class 4A after clearing the Nevada Rubric point total for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. No schools moved from Division I to Class 3A.

For select sports, an individual champion will also be listed.

BASEBALL

Division I: Basic def. Centennial, 9-1.

Division I-A: Boulder City def. Sierra Vista, 4-3.

Division III: Lincoln County def. Yerington, 14-9 and 6-1.

Division IV: Pahranagat Valley def. Wells, 11-1 (six innings).

SOFTBALL

Division I: Spanish Springs def. Rancho, 2-1 in the second game. Rancho won the first, 6-2.

Division I-A: Spring Valley def. Boulder City, 6-5 (nine innings).

Division III: Pershing County def. Lincoln County, 13-0 (six innings) and 7-5.

Division IV: Pahranagat Valley def. Wells, 15-3 and 3-2.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD

Division I: Silverado def. Centennial, 78-68.

Division I-A: Desert Pines def. Elko, 85-78.

Division III: Yerington def. Pershing County, 118-102.

*Lincoln County was Southern Nevada’s top finisher in third place with 95 points.

Division IV: Spring Mountain def. Sierra Lutheran, 151-147.

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

Division I: Centennial def. Palo Verde, 100-55.

Division I-A: Tahoe-Truckee def. Spring Creek, 110.5-90.

*Cheyenne was Southern Nevada’s top finisher in third place with 79 points.

Division III: White Pine def. North Tahoe, 197-132.

Division IV: Sierra Lutheran def. Eureka, 194-92.

*Tonopah was Southern Nevada’s top finisher in sixth place with 42 points.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division I: Green Valley def. Foothill, 3-1.

Division I-A: Mojave def. Sierra Vista, 3-0.

BOYS GOLF

Division I: Palo Verde def. Coronado, 736-762.

*Palo Verde’s Jack Trent won the individual title by two strokes over Arbor View’s Sam Dickey and Coronado’s Grant McKay.

Division I-A: Faith Lutheran def. Pahrump Valley, 797-834.

*Faith Lutheran’s Charlie Magruder won the individual title by three stokes over Pahrump Valley’s Austen Ancell.

Division III: North Tahoe def. Incline, 873-888.

*The Meadows had the same amount of points as Incline, but lost the sixth man tiebreaker.

*Incline’s Mitchell Cornell won the individual title by two strokes over Yerington’s Griffin Cooper.

BOYS SWIMMING

Division I: Palo Verde def. Coronado, 115-82.

Division I-A: Boulder City def. Sierra Vista, 110-85.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Division I: Palo Verde def. Green Valley, 133-114.

Division I-A: Boulder City def. Truckee, 156-111.
