State champions for the 2017 spring season

Here is a recap of every team that won a state title during the 2017 spring sports season and will be looking to defend this upcoming season.

For select sports, an individual champion is listed.

BASEBALL

Class 4A: Basic def. Galena, 16-6.

Class 3A: Boulder City def. Spring Creek, 8-7.

Class 2A: Lincoln County def. Needles, 6-2.

Class 1A: Pahranagat Valley def. Indian Springs, 5-4.

SOFTBALL

Class 4A: Palo Verde def. Reed, 9-3 in the second game. Reed won the first, 4-3.

Class 3A: Fernley def. Churchill County, 3-0.

Class 2A: Needles def. Lincoln County, 20-6 in the second game. Lincoln County won the first, 16-15.

Class 1A: Pahranagat Valley def. Wells, 14-4 and 12-5.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD

Class 4A: Centennial def. Reed, 104-61.5.

Class 3A: Sunrise Mountain def. Mojave, 70-54.

Class 2A: Lincoln County tied White Pine with 130 points.

Class 1A: Spring Mountain def. Sierra Lutheran, 192-121.

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

Class 4A: Centennial def. Rancho, 174-57.

Class 3A: Truckee def. Cheyenne, 81-76.

Class 2A: White Pine def. Pershing County, 138-123.

*Agassi Prep was Southern Nevada’s top finisher in fourth place with 70 points.

Class 1A: Sierra Lutheran def. Wells, 144-83.

*Beatty was Southern Nevada’s top finisher in eighth place with 37 points.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Class 4A: Palo Verde def. Las Vegas, 3-1.

Class 3A: Mojave def. Cheyenne, 3-0.

BOYS GOLF

Class 4A: Palo Verde def. Bishop Manogue, 788-796.

*Bishop Manogue’s Ollie Osborne won the individual title by one stroke over Palo Verde’s Jack Trent.

Class 3A: Spring Creek def. Boulder City, 815-869.

*Spring Creek’s Daniel Mahlka won the individual title by four strokes over Boulder City’s Kyler Atkinson and Pahrump Valley’s Austen Ancell.

Class 2A/1A: Lake Mead def. The Meadows, 895-896.

*Yerington’s Griffin Cooper won the individual title by six strokes over The Meadows’ Veronica Joels.

BOYS SWIMMING

Class 4A: Palo Verde def. Coronado, 115-72.

Class 3A: Boulder City def. Truckee, 132-99.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Class 4A: Palo Verde def. Green Valley, 126-119.

Class 3A: Boulder City def. Truckee, 214.5-75.
