BASKETBALL: Oubre, Pilots top Pinnacle

Kelly Oubre had 23 points Friday to help Findlay Prep’s boys basketball team to a 79-46 win over Pinnacle (Ariz.) in the Duel in the Desert in Phoenix.

Dillon Brooks added 14 points for the Pilots.

Bishop Gorman 73, Villa Angela-St. Joseph (Ohio) 60 — At Wheeling, W.Va., Stephen Zimmerman had 21 points and nine rebounds, and Nick Blair finished with 19 points and nine boards as the Gaels topped the Vikings at the Cancer Research Classic.

Noah Robotham added 11 points and 11 assists, and Chase Jeter added 11 points and nine rebounds for Gorman, which never trailed in the game that was televised on ESPNU.

Simon Texidor led Villa Angela-St. Joseph with 21 points. The Vikings stayed in the game thanks to 10 3-pointers.

Arbor View 52, Wilson (Ore.) 49 — At Gillette, Wyo., Charles Porter had 21 points as the Aggies rallied for a win in the semifinals of the Gillette Energy Classic.

Terrell Butler had 13 points, including going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final minute for Arbor View, which trailed 32-26 at the half. Tristan Lacy had 10 points, and Isaiah Simmons grabbed 10 rebounds for Arbor View.

Desert Oasis 56, Show Low (Ariz.) 46 — At Pinetop-Lakeside, Ariz., the Diamondbacks were 11-for-12 from the free-throw line in overtime to defeat the Cougars in a quarterfinal of the White Mountain Holiday Classic.

Kodi Leslie had 19 points to lead the Diamondbacks. Rodrick Moore added 13 points, and Austin Vasquez scored 10 for Desert Oasis, which plays Benson (Ariz.) in the semifinals on Saturday.

Sean Potter had 24 points to lead Show Low. The Diamondbacks held 6-foot-9-inch Show Low center Jackson Jessop to six points.

Desert Oasis 71, Coronado (Ariz.) 55 — At Pinetop-Lakeside, Ariz., Leslie scored 27 points as the Diamondbacks won to move to the quarterfinals.

Deric Hammock added 18 points for Desert Oasis, which outscored Coronado 23-13 in the third quarter to pull away.

Virgin Valley 54, Hurricane (Utah) 50 — At Mesquite, Garrett Leavitt scored 15 of his 19 points in the first half to lift the Bulldogs over the Tigers.

Dee Bowler had 10 points and six assists for Virgin Valley, which led 28-23 at halftime.

DeVonte Milligan added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Agassi Prep 40, Lake Havasu (Ariz.) 38 — At Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Deishuan Booker hit two free throws with 22 seconds left in the game to lift the Stars by the host Knights in the Lake Havasu Invitational.

Booker finished with 24 points.

The Knights missed three potential game-tying shots in the closing seconds.

Agassi Prep 51, Kingman (Ariz.) 39 — At Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Booker scored 23 points to help the Stars down the Bulldogs in the Lake Havasu Invitational.

Wa’T Manor recorded 13 points for Agassi Prep, which trailed 24-18 at halftime.

Agassi Prep 59, Parker (Ariz.) 34 — At Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Dennis Walker had 15 points to lead the Stars past the Broncs in the Lake Havasu Invitational.

Booker and Stephan Laushaul had 12 points apiece for Agassi Prep, and Manor scored 10 for the Stars.

Agassi Prep 60, Lee Williams (Ariz.) 11 — At Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Booker had 23 points as the Stars beat the Volunteers in the Lake Havasu Invitational.

Walker had 10 points, and Manor and Kobe Williams had nine points apiece for Agassi Prep.

GIRLS

Valley 62, Desert Pines 40 — At Valley, Gabrielle Cabanero hit eight 3-pointers and scored 32 points as the Vikings ran by the Jaguars.

Kennedy Wharton added 19 points for Valley, which led 33-18 at halftime.

Chrystian Myles and Jordan Bailey had 12 points apiece for Desert Pines.
