BOYS BASKETBALL: Basic’s Kamai hits shot at the buzzer to down Palo Verde

Chandler Kamai’s stick-back basket just before the final buzzer Thursday lifted Basic’s boys basketball team to a 73-72 win over visiting Palo Verde.

Palo Verde’s Braxton Richards sank two free throws with 4.7 seconds left to take a 72-71 lead.

Basic then inbounded the ball with a baseball pass to Shelldan Slayton, who missed a shot. Aaron Hiedeman’s put-back attempt missed, but Kamai hit the third shot for the win.

Antraye Johnson tallied 23 points, and Slayton finished with 15 points for Basic, which got 13 points from Hiedeman.

Richards had 16 points, and Travis Gondrezick scored 15 for Palo Verde.

Shadow Ridge 65, Tech 56 — At Shadow Ridge, Jordin Williams scored 16 points, and the Mustangs used a 24-13 fourth-quarter run to pull away from the Roadrunners.

Serph Decker added 15 points, and Preston Echols provided 14 points for Shadow Ridge.

Elias Peinado scored 18 points to lead Tech, which got 11 points from Crawford Linden.

Spring Valley 62, Western 51 — At Spring Valley, Terrell Lee led four double-figure scorers with 15 points as the Grizzlies topped the Warriors.

Ryan Goecke had 13 points, and Travis Walton contributed 12 points for Spring Valley, which got 11 points from DeVante Walton.

Ezekiel Devine led all scorers with 18 points, and Keon Lea added 14 points for the Western.

Canyon Springs 99, Cimarron-Memorial 81 — At Cimarron, Jordan Davis scored 30 points to lead the Pioneers past the Spartans.

Shaquile Carr scored 18 points, and Gerad Davis added 17 points for Canyon Springs, which also got 11 points from Darrell McCall.

Tony Harrison had 25 points, 10 rebounds and nine steals, and Amani Gill scored 16 for Cimarron.

Coronado 70, Silverado 56 — At Coronado, Eddie Austin, Nick Kornieck and Austin Morgan each had 18 points to lead the Cougars past the Skyhawks.

Travis Boman supplied seven points and nine rebounds for Coronado, which got seven rebounds and six blocks from Kornieck.

Joe Baldi scored 19 points, and Jason Matthew had 15 points to lead Silverado.

Rancho 60, Moapa Valley 43 — At Rancho, David McKeever scored 16 points to lead the Rams past the Pirates.

Chrys Jackson added 10 points for Rancho, which jumped out to a 31-20 halftime lead.

Lance Hilton had 21 points, and Jeremy Waite added 10 points to lead Moapa Valley.

Del Sol 75, Pahrump Valley 47 — At Pahrump, Brian Greer had 22 points to help the Dragons to a win over the Trojans.

Rashaun Lawson added 13 points, and Kyle Collins scored 12 for Del Sol, which got 11 points from Eduardo Romero and 10 points from Joseph Nehme.

Rudy Uresti had 11 points for Pahrump, which shot just 6-for-26 from the free-throw line.

Lake Mead 33, Spring Mountain 23 —At Lake Mead, Dylan Graham scored seven points as the Eagles downed the Golden Eagles.

Lake Mead outscored Spring Mountain 21-13 in the second half to pull away.

Harlow Hawkins led the Golden Eagles with eight points.

Mountain View 59, Beatty 13 — At Mountain View, Matt Larson had 15 points, and the Saints used a 20-0 first-quarter burst to down the Hornets.

Nick Jenkins added nine points for Mountain View.

Jacob Zamora led Beatty with seven points.

Adelson School 72, Sandy Valley 37 — At Adelson School, Jake Buchman poured in 27 points, and Rom Izkovich added 24 points as the Lions cruised by the Sidewinders.

Adelson School stormed out to a 24-5 lead after the first quarter and had a 43-13 advantage at halftime.

Lane Eastham led Sandy Valley with 10 points.

Lincoln County 53, Pahranagat Valley 45 — At Panaca, McClain O'Connor had 15 points to help the Lynx top the Panthers.

Kevin Jacques added 12 points for Lincoln County.

Wade Leavitt paced Pahranagat Valley with 12 points.
