BOYS BASKETBALL: Burton’s buzzer-beater gives Valley victory over Cherry Creek

Cameron Burton’s steal and buzzer-beating layup at the end of the fourth quarter Friday lifted Valley’s boys basketball team to a 45-43 home win over Cherry Creek (Colo.).

Burton scored 13 points to lead the Vikings, who rallied from a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Teammate Shea Garland added 12 points.

Will Bower led the Bruins with 13 points.

Bonanza 58, Western 43 — At Bonanza, DaVonta Price scored all 13 of his points in the fourth quarter and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Bengals by the Warriors.

DeAndre Hicks added 11 points and nine steals, and David Bravo had 11 points for Bonanza, which led only 29-27 entering the fourth quarter.

Keon Lea had 13 points, and Thomas Wilson and Deaven Klepek each scored 10 for Western.

Canyon Springs 82, Eldorado 70 — At Eldorado, Shaquile Carr scored 20 points to lead the Pioneers past the Sundevils.

Gerad Davis scored 18, and Jordan Davis and Jerryon Sueing scored 12 points each for Canyon Springs.

D’Quan Crockett had 23 points, and Jayveon Brown scored 20 for Eldorado.

Cimarron-Memorial 70, Shadow Ridge 62 — At Cimarron, Terrell Walker had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Spartans past the Mustangs.

Amani Gill had 21 points for Cimarron. LaRon Young and Justin Lewis scored nine points each for the Spartans.

Jordin Williams had 24 points, and Cameron Berube and Serph Decker each added 10 points for Shadow Ridge.

Las Vegas 81, Cheyenne 55 — At Las Vegas, Re’Kwon Smith scored 23 points, and the Wildcats jumped out to a 22-6 first-quarter lead on their way to a win over the Desert Shields.

Patrick Savoy added 17 points, and Devon Colley scored 15 for Las Vegas.

Joseph Rose had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Jarrell Bell added 12 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and five assists for Cheyenne.

Foothill 63, Bingham (Utah) 60 — At Orem, Utah, Matt Rapp nailed a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Falcons over the Miners in the Great Western Shootout.

Austin Starr scored 19 points to lead Foothill, which took a 27-22 lead into halftime. Rapp added 16 points, and teammate Jalen Shepard finished with 14 points.

Yoeli Childs led Bingham with 15 points.

Palo Verde 49, Maricopa (Ariz.) 45 — At Yuma, Ariz., Taylor Miller scored 11 points to help the Panthers rally past the Rams in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Grant Dressler added 10 points for Palo Verde, which took the lead with just over four minutes left to play.

Darius Sanders and Jordan Sisk scored 14 points apiece to lead Maricopa.

Palo Verde 80, Cibola (Ariz.) 71 — At Yuma, Ariz., Braxton Richards, Chase Ruiz and Travis Gondrezick scored 12 points apiece to help the Panthers beat the Raiders in the semifinals of the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Ja Morgan added 10 points for Palo Verde.

Noah Thompson scored 16 points to lead Cibola, which made it close after trailing 51-29 at halftime.

Centennial 71, Gila Ridge (Ariz.) 41 — At Yuma, Ariz., freshman Troy Brown had 18 points and six assists to lead the Bulldogs to victory in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Khalil Thompson added 15 points, and Eddie Davis grabbed 10 rebounds for Centennial.

Marcus Weeks led Gila Ridge with 13 points.

Centennial 64, Cienega (Ariz.) 57 — At Yuma, Ariz., Thompson hit three 3-pointers and scored 23 points to help the Bulldogs win in the semifinals of the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Thompson was 6-for-8 from the free-throw line down the stretch to help seal the victory.

Davis added 19 points and five rebounds, and Brown grabbed 16 rebounds for Centennial.

Ben Thompson paced Cienega with 17 points.

Pine View (Utah) 72, Moapa Valley 52 — At Overton, Ryan Koller had 16 points, and Kody Wilstead scored 14 to lift the Panthers over the Pirates.

Lance Hilton led Moapa Valley with 11 points, and teammate Andrew Huerta had 10 points.

Sahuarita (Ariz.) 64, Mountain View 42 — At Yuma, Ariz., Brenden Rodriguez led a balanced attack with 12 points as the Mustangs topped the Saints in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Connor LeBoeuf had 13 points, and Jacob Lee scored 12 for Mountain View, which trailed only 43-34 entering the fourth quarter.

Mountain View 62, San Luis (Ariz.) 25 — At Yuma, Ariz., Tevin Gray scored 14 points, and the Saints jumped to a 24-10 first-quarter lead and never looked back against the Sidewinders in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

LeBoeuf had 13 points for the Saints.

Pedro Solorzano led San Luis with 10 points.

Needles 59, Bagdad (Ariz.) 24 — At Williams, Ariz., Cody Tobler had 19 points to lead the Mustangs by the Sultans in the Williams Holiday Tournament.

Wyatt Upshaw added 11 points and 17 rebounds for Needles.

Williams (Ariz.) 51, Needles 45 — At Williams, Ariz., the host school downed the Mustangs in the Williams Holiday Tournament.

Cody Tobler had 12 points, and Devin Darrow scored 11 for Needles.

Spring Mountain 58, Rite of Passage JV 19 — At Hawthorne, Devonte Richey scored 12 points to help the Golden Eagles cruise past the Rams’ junior varsity in the Serpent Classic.

Yerington 54, Spring Mountain 37 — At Hawthorne, the Lions overcame a 22-20 halftime deficit and topped the Golden Eagles in the Serpent Classic.

Harlow Hawkins had eight points for Spring Mountain.
