BOYS BASKETBALL: Demetrius Valdez puts on shooting clinic as Durango rallies past Desert Oasis

Demetrius Valdez hit six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 37 points on Friday to rally Durango’s boys basketball team to a 76-63 win over visiting Desert Oasis.

Valdez scored 14 of his 37 points in the third quarter for the Trailblazers, who trailed 31-30 at halftime. The senior guard also had five assists, five steals and four rebounds.

Vernell Watts had 18 points and six rebounds, and Jeremie Portuondo added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Durango.

Jacob Heese led Desert Oasis with 25 points, and teammate Maitland Williams scored 13.

Chino Hills (Calif.) 84, Bishop Gorman 70 — At Scottsdale, Arizona, LiAngelo Ball scored 30 points to lead the Huskies over the Gaels in the HoopHall West Tournament.

Elisja Scott added 20 points and 14 rebounds, and LaMelo Ball scored 19 for Chino Hills, which led 41-24 at the half.

Jamal Bey had 30 points to lead Gorman, which played a third consecutive game without high-scoring wing Chuck O’Bannon, who is out with an injured right ankle. Zim Agu added 10 points for Gorman.

Sunrise Mountain 35, Valley 33 — At Valley, Daltyn Pytrysson scored the game-winning field goal with four seconds remaining as the Miners defeated the Vikings.

Steven Adeyemi led all scorers with 10 points for Sunrise Mountain, which trailed 28-24 after three quarters.

Tommy Anderson led Valley with eight points.

Centennial 62, Juan Diego (Utah) 54 — At Centennial, Troy Brown had 21 points, and the Bulldogs rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to defeat the Soaring Eagle.

Ishon Hardin had 13 points, and Jamaal Evans finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds for Centennial.

The Bulldogs trailed 22-20 at halftime but outscored Juan Diego 23-8 in the third quarter. Brown and Isaiah Banks each had a steal and dunk on back-to-back possessions in the third to spark Centennial.

Alijah Henderson added 10 points for Centennial.

Del Sol 56, Eldorado 46 — At Del Sol, Jonathan Spearman had 14 points and 12 points, and Byron Rowson scored 12 as the Dragons topped the Sundevils.

Mekhi Duncan added 11 points for Del Sol, which led 38-32 after three quarters.

Kemo Bell had 13 points, and Jordan Carter scored 12 for Eldorado.

Cheyenne 56, Las Vegas 41 — At Las Vegas, Dewayne Alexander led three double-figure scorers with 17 points as the Desert Shields topped the Wildcats.

D’Andre Houston and Kavon Williams each added 10 points, and Damion Bonty scored nine for Cheyenne.

Marquise Raybon led Las Vegas with 14 points, and Donovan Joyner scored nine.

Tech 67, Pahrump Valley 42 — At Pahrump, Jurelle Orbino scored 26 points to lift the Roadrunners over the Trojans.

Miguel Pena and Isaiah Villareal each scored 12 points for Tech.

Antonio Fortin led Pahrump Valley with 18 points.

Arbor View 74, Bradshaw Mountain (Ariz.) 53 — At Page, Arizona, Comillion Smith led all scorers with 23 points as the Aggies defeated Bradshaw Mountain in the NGS Basketball Classic.

Palmer Adams added 17 points, and Donovan Yap scored 12 for Arbor View.

Coronado 78, Higley (Ariz.) 54 — At Scottsdale, Arizona, Kennedy Koehler posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Cougars over Higley.

Trey Hulburt and Freddy Reeves each had 16 points, and Will Weems added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Cougars, who led 19-4 after the first quarter.

Findlay Prep 98, Desert Vista (Ariz.) 76 — At Scottsdale, Arizona, the Pilots defeated the Thunder.

Foothill 70, Rancho 37 — At Foothill, T.J. Johnson scored 12 points as the Falcons defeated the Rams.

Mauricio Smith added 10 points for Foothill, which led 48-16 at halftime.

Rancho’s Dayshawn Robinson led all scorers with 15 points.

Clark 70, Bonanza 31 — At Bonanza, Deshawn Wilson scored 14 points to help the Chargers rout the Bengals.

Clark’s Ian Alexander added 13 points.

Marc Navarro led Bonanza with eight points.

Agassi Prep 62, Calvary Chapel 26 — At Agassi Prep, Akeemis Williams scored 15 points as the Stars topped the Lions.

Najeeb Muhammad added 12 points, six rebounds and six assists for Agassi Prep.

Elijah Martinez led Calvary Chapel with 15 points.

The Meadows 50, Laughlin 42 — At The Meadows, Asheesh Chopra scored 13 points to lead the Mustangs by the Cougars.

Jake Epstein added 10 points for The Meadows, which led 30-19 at halftime.

Jermarion Hickman led all scorers with 31 points for Laughlin.

Lincoln County 53, Mountain View 45 — At Mountain View, Kobe Walker and Elijah Harr each had nine second-half points as the Lynx rallied to beat the Saints.

Harr finished with 14 points to lead Lincoln County, which trailed 24-21 at the half. Noah Smith added 14 points, and Walker scored 10 for the Lynx.

Terrence Brooks led Mountain View with 16 points, and twin brother Tyrell Brooks scored 15.

Virgin Valley 65, White Pine 29 — At Mesquite, Devin Cox scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs over the Bobcats in the Bulldog Invitational.

Jarett Tietjen and Andrew Memmott each scored 11 for the Bulldogs, who led 35-15 at halftime.

Kanab (Utah) 76, Mojave 71 — At Mesquite, Jonathan Rodriguez led all scorers with 25 points in the Rattlers’ loss to the Cowboys in the Bulldog Invitational.

Tyrice Pender added 22 points for Mojave, and J.D. McCormick scored 11.

Kade Jackson and Tavin Ott each scored 17 points for Kanab.

Enterprise (Utah) 81, Legacy 76 — At Mesquite, Jo B. Shurtliff had 23 points to lead the Wolves to an overtime victory over the Longhorns in the Bulldog Invitational.

Kaden Simkins had 16 points for Enterprise. Chasen Truman added 13 points, and Jayson Holt had 11 points for the Wolves, who also got 10 points from Caden Prosbey.

Legacy’s Quentin Brewster led all scorers with 32 points. Chris White added 15 points, and D’Eric Marlowe scored 13.

West Wendover 67, Moapa Valley 51 — At Mesquite, Zade Elton scored a game-high 32 points to lead the Wolverines by the Pirates.

Bryan Flores added 15 points for West Wendover, and Saul Palacious scored 10.

Nathaniel Thompson led Moapa Valley with 19 points.

Pahranagat Valley 53, JV Virgin Valley 17 — At Littlefield, Arizona, the Panthers topped the Bulldogs’ junior varsity in the Diamondback Classic.

Pahranagat Valley 53, Indian Springs 14 — At Littlefield, Arizona, the Panthers routed the Thunderbirds in the Diamondback Classic.

Pahranagat Valley 72, Liberty Baptist 32 — At Littlefield, Arizona, the Panthers routed the Eagles in the Diamondback Classic.

Sandy Valley 39, Liberty Baptist 37 — At Littlefield, Arizona, the Sidewinders edged the Eagles in the Diamondback Classic.

Indian Springs 32, Beatty 30 — At Littlefield, Arizona, the Thunderbirds downed the Hornets in the Diamondback Classic.

Beatty 38, Liberty Baptist 14 — At Littlefield, Arizona, the Hornets defeated the Eagles in the Diamondback Classic.
