BOYS BASKETBALL: Desert Shields rally past Rattlers to earn No. 2 seed

Javon Peterson scored 16 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter Thursday to help Cheyenne’s boys basketball team to a 66-58 victory at Mojave.
Jarrell Bell scored 24 points for the Desert Shields, who rallied from a 31-24 halftime deficit to claim the Sunset League’s No. 2 seed and a first-round home game in the Division I-A Southern Region playoffs.
Darryl Adams had 17 points, and Omar Federico scored 13 for the Rattlers, who also got 12 points from Jordan Glenn.
Bishop Gorman 80, Centennial 64 — At Centennial, Noah Robotham had 13 points and 11 assists to help the Gaels top the Bulldogs and complete an undefeated run through the Southwest League.
Nick Blair added 13 points, eight assists and six steals for the Gaels, who hit seven first-half 3-pointers, including five in the second quarter, to take a 45-26 halftime lead.
Stephen Zimmerman and Obim Okeke each added 13 points, and Chase Jeter had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Gorman.
Troy Brown had 18 points to pace Centennial. Eddie Davis added 14 points, and Khalil Thompson and Garrett Scheer each scored 11 for the Bulldogs.
Desert Oasis 55, Cimarron-Memorial 53 — At Cimarron, Rodrick Moore had 19 points to help the Diamondbacks hold off the Spartans.
Deric Hammock had 12 points, and Kodi Leslie added 11 points for Desert Oasis.
Austin Garrison and Kyle Skurow each had 18 points for Cimarron.
Virgin Valley 77, Chaparral 67 — At Mesquite, Dee Bowler had 17 points and 10 assists to power the Bulldogs over the Cowboys.
Garrett Leavitt had 20 points, and DeVonte Milligan and Cody Burnside each scored 11 for Virgin Valley. The Bulldogs led 15-4 after one quarter.
Tyree McNeal scored 28 points for Chaparral, which was 25-for-28 from the free-throw line.
Legacy 74, Bonanza 56 — At Legacy, Deshaun Hilliard scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half to help the Longhorns pull away from the Bengals.
Anthony Madden made four 3-pointers and had 16 points, and Christian Solis scored 15 for Legacy, which led 36-34 at the half.
Jamal Logan had 18 points, and Ryan Glasper and Davian Jordan each scored 11 for Bonanza.
Desert Pines 57, Boulder City 41 — At Boulder City, Timothy Jeffries led a balanced attack with 10 points as the Jaguars beat the Eagles.
Kevin Butler added nine points, and Coby Myles, Capri Uzan and Dominic Deloney each scored eight for Desert Pines.
Boulder City’s Tyler Newby led all scorers with 13 points.
Clark 60, Western 32 — At Western, Diontae Jones led with 15 points, and Jordan Turner scored 14 as the Chargers topped the Warriors.
Deaven Klepek paced Western with 17 points.
Faith Lutheran 77, Pahrump Valley 42 — At Faith Lutheran, Clayton Holthaus had nine of his 13 points during a 17-0 first-quarter run as the Crusaders routed the Trojans.
Mitch Fulfer had 14 points, and Brock Smith scored 10 for Faith Lutheran, which also got 10 rebounds from Sean Kay.
A.J. Segura led Pahrump with 10 points.
Sunrise Mountain 73, Tech 43 — At Sunrise Mountain, A.T. Sanders scored 18 points as the Miners routed the Roadrunners.
Briar Cutler scored 12 points and Sherman Nash 11 for Sunrise Mountain, which jumped out to a 31-13 halftime lead.
Jeremiah Dancel had 19 points to lead Tech, which also got 12 points from Crawford Linden.
