BOYS BASKETBALL: Epstein pours in 50 points in Mustangs’ win at White Pine

Jake Epstein scored 41 of his 50 points in the first half and hit 11 3-pointers Friday to lead The Meadows' boys basketball team to an 88-45 win over White Pine in Ely.

Epstein scored all of his points in the first three quarters as the Mustangs built an 81-37 lead after three.

Asheesh Chopra added 11 points for The Meadows.

Samuel Stewart led White Pine with 13 points. Jonathan Gust and Cody Bennett each had 10 points for the Bobcats.

Centennial 81, Mojave 54 — At Centennial, Isaiah Banks had 20 points to lead the Bulldogs by the Rattlers.

Roy Sparks added 17 points for Centennial.

Chrishawn Thomas led Mojave with 22 points. Richard Edwards added 15 points, and Daryl Adams scored 10 for the Rattlers.

Rancho 42, Valley 39 — At Rancho, Lamont Traylor had 11 points and 13 rebounds as the Rams nipped the Vikings.

Chrys Jackson had 13 points for Rancho.

Seneca Mithell led Valley with 11 points.

Coronado 72, Juneau (Alaska) 53 — At Wasilla, Alaska, Trey Hurlburt had 26 points and six assists to lead the Cougars by the Crimson Bears in the Doc Larson Roundball Classic.

Jake DesJardins added 18 points, and Kennedy Koehler had 11 rebounds for Coronado.

Kaleb Tompkins led Juneau with 20 points.

Legacy 55, Desert Hot Springs (Calif.) 50 — At Desert Hot Springs, Calif., Edward Vaughns scored 13 points, and the Longhorns rallied to beat the Golden Eagles.

Legacy trailed by four with four minutes to play.

Tim Jeffries added nine points for the Longhorns, who made 3 of 4 free throws late to seal the victory.

Kwmaine Gordon had 17 points to lead Desert Hot Springs.

Moreau Catholic (Calif.) 84, Foothill 55 — At Lahaina, Hawaii, Oscar Frayer had 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Mariners downed the Falcons in the Lahainaluna Invitational.

Damari Milstead added 20 points for Moreau Catholic, ranked No. 11 nationally by USA Today.

T.J. Johnson had 12 points, and Devon Erb added 11 points for Foothill, which got 10 points from Jace Roquemore.

Lake Mead 77, Laughlin 57 — At Lake Mead, Shay Rutledge scored 16 of his 38 points in the third quarter as the Eagles downed the Cougars.

Noah Tassi added 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Jacob Scott had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Lake Mead.

Corey Anderson led Laughlin with 32 points, and teammate Tyler Furr scored 13.

Calvary Chapel 79, Lincoln County 57 — At Panaca, D.J. Golden scored 17 points as the Lions eased past the Lynx.

Dylan Sims had 14 points, and Killian Diers and Quentin Hank each scored 13 for Calvary Chapel, which led 22-7 after the first quarter. Jules Fuentebella scored 12 points for the Lions.

Kobe Walker had 22 points, and Justin Barton scored 10 for Lincoln County.

Pahranagat Valley 68, Wells 43 — At Wells, Shawn Wadsworth led four players in double figures with 14 points as the Panthers defeated the Leopards.

Tabor Maxwell (13 points), Cody Williams (12 points) and Culen Highbe (11 points) also scored in double digits for Pahranagat Valley.

Raul Naranjo scored 23 points for Wells.

Baker (Calif.) 63, Sandy Valley 50 — At Sandy Valley, the Braves topped the Sidewinders.

Wyatt Robinson led Sandy Valley with 20 points. Logan Shelton added 11 points, and Brandon Eastham scored 10 for the Sidewinders.
