BOYS BASKETBALL: Fox’s three-point play lifts Faith Lutheran over Canyon Spings

Jaylen Fox's three-point play with less than 20 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter gave Faith Lutheran's boys basketball team the lead, and the visiting Crusaders held on for a 54-53 victory over Canyon Springs on Friday.

Blake Bell led Faith Lutheran with 18 points.

Zach Friel and Elijah Kothe each had 10 points, and Fox finished with five points for the Crusaders.

Canyon Springs' Elbert Bibbs led all scorers with 23 points.

Marlon Tatum and Derrick Legardy each had 10 points for the Pioneers, who had a chance to win late but were unable to convert.

Clark 78, Pahrump Valley 32 — At Pahrump, Antwon Jackson scored 19 points as the Chargers routed the Trojans.

Ian Alexander added 15 points for Clark, which outscored Pahrump 24-11 in the first quarter to take control.

Danny Foss scored 11 points to lead the Trojans.

Silverado 58, Legacy 44 — At Silverado, Errol Newman scored eight of his 15 points in the third quarter, and the Skyhawks closed the game on a 20-9 run to top the Longhorns.

Kris Coe added 14 points for Silverado.

Timothy Jeffries led Legacy with 10 points.

Centennial 77, Palo Verde 61 — At Centennial, Jake Hutchings scored 24 of his 30 points in the second half to lead the Bulldogs by the Panthers.

Troy Brown added 19 points, and Darian Scott scored 11 for Centennial, which also got 10 points from Isaiah Banks.

Taylor Miller paced Palo Verde with 23 points, and teammates James Camp and Cole Hendershot each scored 10.

Orem (Utah) 67, Foothill 65 — At Orem, Utah, Puka Nacua stuck back his own missed shot with one second left in overtime to lift the Tigers by the Falcons in the Free Tax USA Shootout.

Noah Johnson had 27 points and 11 rebounds for Orem, which forced overtime when Ross Reeves hit a 3-pointer with three seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Foothill's Marvin Coleman had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Jeron Bodin and Mauricio Smith each had 15 points for the Falcons.

Bishop Gorman 75, St. Mary's (Ariz.) 61 — At Scottsdale, Ariz., Zach Collins had 21 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, five blocks and two steals to lead the Gaels past the Knights in the Desert Challenge.

Byron Frohnen added 19 points, four rebounds and two assists for Gorman, which took control of the game with a 28-6 first-quarter run.

Charles O'Bannon added 11 points, five rebounds and two assists, and Chase Noma'aea had 11 points and three rebounds for the Gaels.

Dylan Henderson scored 18 points to lead St. Mary's.

Findlay Prep 66, Shadow Mountain (Ariz.) 63 — At Scottsdale, Ariz., Markus Howard made seven free throws in the final 19 seconds to help the Pilots stun the Matadors at the Desert Challenge.

Michael Bibby made an off-balance 3-pointer with 25 seconds remaining to give Shadow Mountain a 59-58 lead, setting up a wild finish. Findlay Prep junior P.J. Washington was fouled with 19 seconds remaining, and Shadow Mountain was hit with two technical fouls.

Washington went 1-for-2 at the free-throw line, and Howard then drained all four foul shots for the technicals. After the Pilots inbounded the ball, Howard was fouled and hit two free throws for a 65-59 Findlay Prep lead.

Bibby finished with 26 points for Shadow Mountain.

Pine View (Utah) 63, Arbor View 57 — At Page, Ariz., Brandon Yates had 17 points to lead the Panthers by the Aggies in the NGS Invitational.

Cody Ruesch added 16 points for Pine View, which outscored Arbor View 27-21 in the fourth quarter.

Jesse Vogel hit five 3-pointers and had 24 points for the Aggies, and teammate Cameron Trailer added 16 points.

Mojave 56, Shadow Ridge 54 — At Mesquite, Chris Jackson's dunk off an alley-oop pass from Daryl Adams with two seconds left in the game lifted the Rattlers by the Mustangs in the Bulldog Invitational.

Richard Edwards had 15 points for Mojave, which overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit. Jackson scored 13, and Adams added 12 points for the Rattlers.

Jerell Springer had 20 points, and James Fuller scored 13 for Shadow Ridge.

Virgin Valley 59, Kanab (Utah) 57 — At Mesquite, Hogan Fowles made a 13-foot baseline jumper at the buzzer to give the Bulldogs a victory over the Cowboys at the Bulldog Invitational.

Zach Barnum led Virgin Valley with 13 points. Jarrett Tietjen had 12 points, and Marcus Saunders scored 11 for the Bulldogs, who trailed 26-25 at halftime.

Fowles finished with seven points.

Layne Anderson scored a game-high 22 points for Kanab.

Desert Oasis 59, Moapa Valley 18 — At Mesquite, Drevin Cannon had a game-high 12 points, and the Diamondbacks pounded the Pirates at the Bulldog Invitational.

Aamondae Coleman added 10 points for Desert Oasis.

Nate Cox led Moapa Valley with six points.

Bonanza 73, Enterprise (Utah) 49 — At Mesquite, Jamal Logan poured in 26 points, and the Bengals walloped the Wolves at the Bulldog Invitational.

Davian Jordan added 10 points for Bonanza, which led 36-23 at halftime and pulled away in the second half.

Jo B Shurtliff finished with 15 points to lead Enterprise.

The Meadows 73, Laughlin 18 — At The Meadows, Max Hisatake scored 18 points, and the Mustangs grabbed a 24-7 first-quarter lead on their way to a rout of the Cougars.

Jake Epstein added 16 points, and Ethan Fridman scored 12 for The Meadows, which got 11 points from Asheesh Chopra.

Corey Anderson led Laughlin with nine points.

Lake Mead 47, Lincoln County 32 — At Panaca, Shay Rutledge scored 21 points to help the Eagles top the Lynx.

Austin Newby added 10 points for Lake Mead, which led 31-23 after three quarters.

Kobe Walker led Lincoln County with 14 points.

Mountain View 69, White Pine 42 — At Ely, Tevin Gray scored a game-high 21 points in three quarters to lead the Saints past the Bobcats.

Mountain View also received double-digit scoring from Christian Bennett (11), Tyrell Brooks (11), Bernard Williams (10), and Terrence Brooks (10).

Dakoda Barela led White Pine with 11 points, and Jonathan Gust added 10.

Agassi Prep 63, Calvary Chapel 50 — At Agassi Prep, Najeeb Muhammad had 15 points, and the Stars used a 20-8 third-quarter run to top the Lions.

Jared Holmes added 12 points for Agassi Prep.

Quentin Hank, D.J. Golden and Killian Diers each had 14 points for Calvary Chapel.

Pahranagat Valley 41, Liberty Baptist 27 — At Littlefield, Ariz., Christian Higbee scored 15 points as the Panthers downed the Eagles.

Jacob Roemer added 10 points for Pahranagat Valley, which outscored the Eagles 26-14 in the second half to pull away.

Ryan Baldwin scored nine points to lead the Eagles.

Pahranagat Valley 45, JV Virgin Valley 31 — At Littlefield, Ariz. Tabor Maxwell scored 13 points to lead the Panthers past the Bulldogs in the Beaver Dam Tournament.

Culen Highbe and Daved Wilson each scored eight points for the Panthers, who outscored the Bulldogs 29-10 in the first half.
