BOYS BASKETBALL: Furious fourth-quarter rally lifts Clark to tourney title

Ian Alexander had 15 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter on Friday to lead Clark’s boys basketball team to an 85-77 win over Campbell County (Wyoming) in the championship game of the Energy Classic in Gillette, Wyoming.
The Chargers trailed 60-42 going into the fourth quarter, but outscored the Camels 43-17 in the final eight minutes.
Sedrick Hammonds and Trey Woodbury each scored eight points in the fourth quarter to aid the comeback.
Hammonds and James Bridges each finished with 15 points for Clark. Woodbury scored 13, and Antwon Jackson had 11 points for the Chargers. Alexander also had three blocked shots.
Campbell County’s Trey Hladky led all scorers with 36 points.
Liberty 51, Sheridan (Wyo.) 50 — At Gillette, Wyoming, Tyrone Marigney’s 3-pointer at the buzzer allowed the Patriots to edge the Broncs in the Energy Classic.
Cameron Burist had 21 points for the Patriots, who carried a 44-39 lead into the fourth quarter. Dyllan Robinson added 13 points for Liberty. Robinson was named to the all-tournament team.
Drew Boedecker led Sheridan with 12 points.
Faith Lutheran 66, Ponderosa (Calif.) 58 — At Palm Desert, California , Nic Maccioni had 26 points and the Crusaders rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat the Bruins in the Rancho Mirage Holiday Invitational.
Connor Nichols added 19 points, and Elijah Kothe scored 16 for Faith Lutheran, which outscored Ponderosa 30-15 in the fourth quarter. The win gave the Crusaders fifth place in the tournament’s Nike Division.
Adam Orr scored 15 to pace the Bruins, who led 32-19 at the half.
Bishop O’Connell (Va.) 74, Bishop Gorman 69 — At Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Matt Lewis scored 26 points, and the Knights held on to defeat the Gaels in a consolation game of the Beach Ball Classic.
Nate Watson added 16 points for O’Connell, which shot 15-for-19 from the field (78.9 percent) in the first half to take a 37-26 halftime lead. O’Connell finished 30-for-46 from the field (65.2 percent), including 25-for-32 on 2-pointers (78.1 percent).
Chuck O’Bannon led all scorers with 37 points for Gorman. O’Bannon was 6-for-12 on 3-pointers and added five rebounds.
La Costa Canyon (Calif.) 54, Cimarron-Memorial 49 — At Solana Beach, California, Drew Mead and Christian Gallagher each had 13 points to lead the Mavericks over the Spartans for third place in the Senators Division of the Under Armour Holiday Classic.
Demarco Alexander had 22 points and eight rebounds to pace Cimarron. Keiron Hatchett added 13 points for the Spartans.
Centennial 76, Moreau Catholic (Calif.) 55 — At La Verne, California, Troy Brown had 27 points to lead the Bulldogs to the win in The Classic at Damien.
Lincoln County 79, Beaver Dam 26 — At Kanab, Utah, Justin Barton scored 23 points as the Lynx routed the Diamondbacks.
Benson Wadsworth had 14 points and nine rebounds, and Brady Lawrence had 14 points and five steals for Lincoln County, which outscored Beaver Dam 32-4 in the third quarter.
Elijah Harr added 12 rebounds and eight assists for the Lynx.
Manny Villareal and Oscar Plancarte each scored 10 points for Beaver Dam.
