BOYS BASKETBALL: Galang helps Tech break 36-game losing streak

Paul Galang scored 27 of his 32 points in the second half Tuesday as Tech's boys basketball team broke a 36-game losing streak with a 74-57 home win over Boulder City.

Gary Johnson added 15 points for the Roadrunners, who led only 24-21 at the half before pulling away for their first victory since Jan. 2, 2014 and their first Sunrise League win since Jan. 8, 2013 — a span of 34 games.

Zach Murphy paced the Eagles with 19 points. Justus Greene scored 16 points, and Carson Balistere added 10 points for Boulder City.

Shadow Ridge 78, Bonanza 77 — At Bonanza, Nick Blake's basket with one second left in overtime allowed the Mustangs to edge the Bengals.

Jerell Springer had 23 points for Shadow Ridge, which carried a 51-49 lead into the fourth quarter. James Fuller added 17 points, and Blake scored 11 for the Mustangs.

Jamal Logan led Bonanza with 26 points. Davion Jordan added 22 points, and Jacob Perez scored 13 for the Bengals.

Green Valley 83, Desert Oasis 78 — At Green Valley, Xavier Jarvis had 34 points and 12 rebounds, and Canyon Lewis added 30 points and 12 rebounds as the Gators topped the Diamondbacks in overtime.

Matthew Tuttle supplied 10 points and six assists, and Isiah Macklin grabbed nine rebounds and had a key blocked shot in overtime for Green Valley.

Aamondae Colemah had 17 points to lead five Desert Oasis players in double figures. Daron Fuglesten (14), Leslie Long (13), Drevin Cannon (13) and Jacob Heese (11) also contributed for the Diamondbacks.

Virgin Valley 51, Del Sol 48 — At Del Sol, Marcus Saunders scored 15 points, including a key three-point play late in the fourth quarter, as the Bulldogs edged the Dragons.

Zach Barnum had 11 points, and teammate Andrew Memmott added 10 points for Virgin Valley.

Malique Dunn had 13 points to lead Del Sol. Myles Dunn and Jonathan Spearman each added 10 points for the Dragons.

Mojave 63, Cheyenne 52 — At Cheyenne, Chrishawn Thomas scored 27 points to power the Rattlers past the Desert Shields.

Richard Edwards had 13 points, and Tyreon Ward added 12 points for Mojave, which used a 25-11 third-quarter run to pull away.

Kavon Williams had 17 points, and William Moore scored 15 for Cheyenne.

Las Vegas 58, Foothill 52 — At Foothill, Deandre Northey scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats over the Falcons.

Donovan Joyner added 18 points for Las Vegas.

Jeron Bodin had 12 points, and Jace Roquemore scored 11 for Foothill.

Desert Pines 68, Sunrise Mountain 31 — At Desert Pines, Greg Floyd had 25 points and 13 rebounds to power the Jaguars past the Miners.

Curtis Henderson and Capri Uzan each added nine points, and Trevon Abdullah grabbed eight rebounds for Desert Pines

Tyri White had nine points for Sunrise Mountain.

Sierra Vista 79, Western 38 — At Western, Maka Ellis hit seven 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished with 30 points to lead the Mountain Lions in a rout of the Warriors.

Ellis scored 22 points during a 35-5 first-quarter run and made eight 3-pointers in the game. Maui SeraJosef added 15 points for Sierra Vista.

Kwan Carter had 14 points, and Anthony Dodson scored 11 for Western.

Centennial 55, Silverado 21 — At Silverado, Troy Brown had 15 points, and the Bulldogs held the Skyhawks to one second-half field goal to get the win.

Jake Hutchings added 14 points for Centennial, which led 23-17 at the half.

Silverado's Errol Newman had nine points, and his 3-pointer early in the third quarter trimmed the lead to five, but the Skyhawks wouldn't make another field goal.

Silverado managed just a free throw in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs outscored the Skyhawks 19-1. Centennial closed the game on a 30-1 run.

Chaparral 62, Moapa Valley 48 — At Chaparral, Marc Silas scored 25 points to lift the Cowboys over the Pirates.

Marcus Hilliard added 15 points for Chaparral, which used a 21-8 first-quarter spurt to pull away.

Nate Cox and Jay Mortensen each had 13 points for Moapa Valley.

Agassi Prep 66, Adelson School 50 — At Adelson, Akeemis Williams had 26 points to lead the Stars to victory over the Lions.

Daniel Plummer scored 18 points for Agassi Prep, which outscored Adelson 30-22 over the middle quarters.

Jake Buchman scored 23 points, and Jacob Elharrar added 11 points for the Lions.

Needles 48, Lake Mead 43 — At Lake Mead, Derek Wagstaff scored 16 points and the Mustangs held off a late charge to down the Eagles.

Irving Juarez added 14 points for Needles, which led 25-13 at halftime.

Lake Mead's Shay Rutledge had 12 points.

Pahranagat Valley 42, Lincoln County 37 — At Panaca, Tabor Maxwell had 13 points to help the Panthers top the Lynx.

Shawn Wadsworth added 11 points for Pahranagat Valley.

Kobe Walker paced Lincoln County with 14 points.
